My former neighbor from long ago was one of the partners in the Snodgrass/Mahnken Psycho Mustang funny car. Orginally debuting in 1964 as a Fiat w/blown gas 427 Ford wedge, the team, after being declared the 1965 UDRA blown gas champion, adorned the chassis with the Mustang shell and switched to nitro. The direct drive car ran into about the end of 1967 where along the way it won super eliminator at the 67 Hot Rod Magazine Championships. In 1968, the car was sold to an Australian who plopped a 392 in it.

The car was sold to Bill Pound I think, it had the 392 hemi in it when it came here, It was called "Psycho" and Alan Walton purchased it and ran it until he was one of the many that lost their cars to the short breaking area at Calder Park. I was recently at Al's place and he dragged out a few souveniers one of which is the old fire suit that came with the car, it has Snodgrass , Mahnken & Andrews on the back of it. When the car was crashed it was totalled and Alan pulled it apart and fitted the Mechanicals to the ex Santo Rapasarda Torana Funny Car which he called 'Smokin'.

Ross that dragster shot you posted of the guy with the eye problem I think that is the late Bobby Mayer in his 354 Hemi Crower Cams dragster taken at Castlereagh during the '66 US Drag Fest.

  29. Does anyone know how to get ahold of Dave Wallace Jr or Sr.? They we're the father son "photog" team at San Fernando for most of its
years. I'm hopeful they will have some pics of our '56 as the "Pond"
    was our home track.
