Boy, I heard that! But, if my CRS isn't fooling me, didn't Irwindale have In-N-Out burgers the last couple of years?[/QUOTE]

Come to think of it, I never saw any "In-in-Out" signage anywhere at Irwindale.
I know if they were there, so would be their signs. Be interesting if anyone can come up a photo with that in the background....

The In and Out family dynasty was involved in the running of the track at some point. I recall seeing a big delivery van bringing the food. The truck was embossed with the In and Out Burger logo

I know I ate In-N-Out burgers there, but there was never any signs. Don't know why. Seems like the Snider family would have used the promotion opportunity.

You have to wonder why there is a Shell petrol(gas) can attached to the exhaust:eek:

I think the gas can is there in case he runs out of gas! It is actually a catch can.
The body is off a Goggomobile they were built in Australia using a combination of bits from Europe and Australia. There were two body styles a Roadster and a Sedan. Thank God they did not sell very many.
This one was rear engined and was an ill handling beast, it featured twin blowers and injectors, if you look close you can pick this feature out.

Very cool Dodge truck, wings' not doing too much there though just sitting in an area of turbulent air. But very cool truck; with or without the wing.

Storm king,Charlie says the wing actually gives it a bit more stability on the big end of the track, adds some down force on an otherwise light rear.

I suspect it does, there is air there to push it, just turbulent. I'd bet money I could just put a wickerbill on the back of the cab and get more stability and mph out of it, but it wouldn't look as cool; in fact you'd hardly notice anything there. Such is aerodynamics!
I did an SCCA Mustang some years ago that had a big whale tail wing on the back, I got rid of that, put a 1/2 inch wickerbill on the back of the roof, and made the car handle better and gained it mph and lower lap tiimes. Like I said, the truck looks cool, so I wouldn't mess with it anyway!

PS, Don't tell Mark I said anyting about it, he'll come on here and chew me out!;)

I have a "thing" for '59 Pontiac Safari wagons (my next venture) and I was googling them and came up with this static shot, but it's worth posting...
Man, what a pair! (I don't think I've ever said that before when referring to cars...:))

Damn, I could see that wagon with a push board on the bumper, some decals on the rear quarter windows, towing an open trailer with that digger on it...I don't think you could wipe the smile off my face if you kicked me in the nuts.

  22. There's a wagon in that picture? ;-)

Before the final rounds of racing, some promoters booked a jet car to torch a car...now thats entertainment!

I posted this earlier, but...the drivers liked torching cars, too...

  28. Doug Herbert having a bad day. We were sitting about 20 rows up from the van. A guy two rows in front of us caught a piece of blower in the forehead. Good thing he was wasted on beer. He didn't even want to go get stiched up. We felt the concussion in the stands, I can't imagine what it was like in the car.
