  5. Next to Bill Martin's 400Jr., probably the most bad ass sbc that ever lived. And at 995 lbs. on the line, ready to go, no doubt the lightest.

    What the F......??
First glance at this looks like a stunt driver doin' his tricks, but slicks & a 'chute?
I bet this guy had to clean his race suit when he got back to the pits. Any more info??

  8. Not in motion, but neat picture of a very cool local (Soprano territory) car from back in the day.

Hi.. I am new to the forum. In my mid-40s and grew up at the drag strips. I still have my Dad's '55 Chevy straight axle gasser. The last pass it made was 1981. Here are two pics I have from about 1979. He bought the car when I was just 6 weeks old. The car is in quite a few pieces right now but is mostly there minus the engine/trans and the interior/firewall/wiring. Front axle, brakes, steering, ect.. are all still there. I have been able to view about 110 pages of this thread so far and I intend on trying to get through all of it whenever I have a whole freakin' day to sit in front of the computer..LOL

I am currently bracket racing a big block Vega, but recently I find myself standing in my back pole barn staring at this thing and trying to figure out what I need to "git-r-dun". Maybe later I'll post pictures of what it looks like today..

Anybody have more pictures of this car?? Ran at Numedia, Beaver Springs, Green Pine, York US30, and some other tracks I can't recall right now.

The Sherbert/Herbert car relied an approach encopassing a big stroker crank and straight alky. The 2nd approach was to do what the Ridge Route Terrors did and run stock bore/stroke 327 Chevy, but pour the whole drum in-95% nitro pop. The Martin car appeared in the Munsters episode where Herman takes up drag racing.

  12. Jim Miles' Magic Muffler Topolino with the crank IN the engine. I snapped this pic two years ago at the Road Kings annual Santa Anita car show. The club always has a huge display of old photos of members race cars. Naturally, the puking the crank shot is an attention getter. Jim was there re living the moment for all to enjoy. :)

  13. Famoso 61. I don't know who's car it was, or what times it ran. It was bright orange, and I just remember thinking what a bad ass Fiat!

  14. Mooneyham, Jackson, Furguson & Faust. I love this pic because it shows Gene's old Ranchero that was the same gorgeous blue as the 554. The coupe was there too. Gene and Larry had a busy weekend.

  18. Stormin' Norman leaving in his usual style. Ron Rivero commented on the LIONS shot, noting Norm was only about 4 feet off the line, "that was the one time I really thought Norm otta' lift"!!

Indeed. And unlike a Loch Ness reporting, there is no debate here. Thats a ton of double-doubles about to be delivered. or the fixins' anyway as they were made fresh. But they didnt sell the milk shakes that I could recall. Oh and the car...Cerny-Lins and..maybe Moody
