  6. I'm not going to argue. I suggest you read the NHRA rulebooks for the 1960's. See what they say. Enough of this.

Modern pictures of the same car...the car that was posted earlier and the op asked for more pics...so I would say it's on track.

  9. I don't think you need to argue mainly because there were many variations going on back then. The point is that there were nose-up cars, and you shouldn't be so militant about it. No one's saying you're wrong, but you're saying that these period cars are not "real" gassers because they don't conform to your particular definition, and that's what's wrong.

This car was from the Kenosha Wisconsin area...it ran a big MOPAR wedge. He ran an injected 426 HEMI in a 33 Willys too.

He rolled the 33 and sold the engine to these guys, and they ran in the UDRA. They were from The Rockford Illinois area... ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1449550208.601193.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1449550218.655951.jpg

See, no tail. Just drop the clutch, hold to the steering wheel and power shift the 4-speed. If you did not hit the guard rail, you felt you had a reasonable round. Long Beach ~1967

Definitely on track and look at the other pix that 11FUNNY posted as a follow up--a great addition to the thread.

I sold my 36 Willys sedan to an Erik Botha from Kenosha and he had a 33 Willys coupe with a hemi in it, he said he wanted something a little more streetable and mine was just perfect for him.

The axle itself looks like it could handle just about anything. It's just that where the spindle bores are attached that look a little 'anemic' to me. Must have been OK though. This is a great 'period' shot.

There's something about these pics that make me think that these guys had a lot of fun racing and were serious about it (the Vertex for example). I was never a 'stocker' guy, but I like this one.

Ya, it looks like they either expected the car to be doing a lot of wheelstands, or they already experienced it and had to take some extra measures after the fact.

  23. I agree with DDDenny. Looks like a straight tube that's been trussed within an inch of its life.
