  3. Perfect chop on this coupe. Reminds me of another '34 coupe I'm partial to. ;)

  5. That is so true!

If there isn't already a thread on cars/drivers famous for their names/nicknames, why then there ought to be!!!

  10. Junji, the coupe looks like the early version of Bill Coburn's comp coupe.

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to spend the day with Don "The Snake" Prudhomme at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield. He brought his "Shelby Super Snake" AA/FD, which he restored with the help of Ed Pink and Don Long. Although we’ll have the full feature in TRJ #72, we’re particularly excited about the high angle, head-on burnout shots captured by our car-mounted cameras. These were inspired by Bob Swaim’s Car Craft centerspread from June 1968. Stay tuned for a more in-depth video in the near future and the full story in issue #72!

    Check it out!

    hello,
not a barn find, but thanks to rruss here on the hamb for his happenstance movie from lions. i think this clip is our 40 willys at lions. it is primered, black wheels, and if you look closely underneath, it has what looks like traction master bars. the puzzling thing is that it is too blurry to identify what is sticking out of the hood as the car goes by the camera. but, my first impression was injector tubes, but no willys at the time had injector tubes sticking out. so, is it our car? my brother was a howard cam fanatic. he liked the old style actions of howard cam cars...backyard style builders, etc. so, we had a full race cam and kit, flywheel, trans adapter, etc. i cannot remember if he put those huge stickers on the rear window...but there was no other primered willys with black wheels during our lions days racing days...so, you be the judge...this is as close to the real car as possible...thanks rruss...he had no other photos of the car, so the search is still on for more photos or movies. yea...we are getting somewhere.... please don't stop looking...
    thank you, thank you...

To be totally correct it is a Zodiac, the high end, badge engineered Zephyr. And the photo is from Australia. Ken Spence was (is?) the owner and it ran a small block Ford with 4 downdraft IDA Webers. I think that the photo may be from an event in Kerang (where Spence lived) that was held on a closed for the day public road.

Marty, you may be correct on the spelling, in those days it was just "Frank" and "Brooks". :)

To me it looks like tubes on carbs on a blower.

  19. Can make out "194 B/G", those don't look like any injector stacks I've ever seen.

  21. The frame capture I've attached shows the right rear spring fairly clear. No evidence (in my opinion) of traction bars.
One can make out both the leaf, and the shackle.
That is, there "could be" traction bars, but at no pint is the front of the leaf visible.

    hello c j,
that clip looks like a rear leaf spring attachment, but look closely at the next photo, the leaf does not hang that low on the axle, something is hanging in front of the axle. traction master bars hang from the bottom of the axle and bolt on to an attachment point on the frame. i know, as i was the one that crawled under the car to bolt everything on the correct way. but, whatever it is, this is as close to the real thing until someone actually has a photo or movie that shows a lot more in detail. no, folks, this is not a cat fight.... just being happy that something is as close to what we built in 1960 was still available in 2016.
    thanks,
