I'll have to respectfully disagree with you here Nick. While I am not knocking the digger, it certainly does not look 40 years old, not even 30.

It has a modern front axle with a narrow track
    Modern front body
    Tires are way too big
Roll cage is huge too, you could fit 2 small people in there, almost.
Headers like that back then were very uncommon, if used at all.

take a good look at some vintage pics and you will see what I mean. Still a neat car though.

  4. Yep, both cars are neat, but 40 years ago that panel would have been full fendered, at least it would in the states. Right mazooma1 ?

  6. Kudos to Del for doing that car. Watching it run 5.80's excites me more than watching any of the current 4 second time bombs run. Cool!! :D

Obviously, Harry Fowuler, the driver agreed with you because he obviously wanted to run me down.

There was aboot 15 inches of concrete between us but I did bolt at the last moment. This car came even closer after bouncing back after this submarine dive.

  18. Here's a pic of my 389 Pontiac powered AA/Fuel Dragster. I had it built in 2000 to look as 'old' as possible without compromising safety or performance.
Note the vintage Enderle magnesiun 3 rib hat, stock 1960 valve covers, Halibrand magnesium wheels, chrome front axle ( I actually have 3 of them in different widths, this is the narrow one), front wing resembles one from the mid 60s, vintage looking body in candy apple red with low body around driver, alum windscreen and vintage looking, narrow cage and body.
as best I know, it is the first Pontiac powered AA/FD since 1965. as the car advances and my experience with blowers and nitro increase, ultra rare vintage M/T Pontiac HEMI heads will be added.
We plan to be at Bakersfield this oct for the CHRR at Bakersfield. The official tow and push car is a '61 Catalina Safari.
I try to keep the vintage look as best I can as I like the old days and kinda' wish i was around when it was happening.

    Hello,
If anybody finds out maybe who to talk to at Central Chevrolet in Fremont could you please let me know. I have a willys coupe that was sponsored by them and would love to find out some info or pictures of it. I called them but no one seemed interested in helping me out unless I buy a new truck or something.

    Thanks

Don't be too hard on them. I've worked at a new car dealership and if Central is like 99% of them, there is no one who has been there longer than 4 or 5 years, much less been there long enough to know anything about sponsoring a race car many years ago. They also don't generally keep paperwork very long. Best bet is to try to contact to guy who has been there the longest in the service department. The service or part guys tend to hang on longer than the guys in sales. Good luck.

Even the Mooneyes sticker is looking down-track. Looks like a first-gen Camaro fender at left.

That '34 gettin' it on looks pretty damn good to me. Tough choice.
