San Gabriel, maybe '62? Kenny Ellis, far side with his "trigster," maybe racing Andy Clary in the Clary Brothers injected Olds powered Dragmaster chassis? Dean Lowe, do you remember?

  13. That is a Winternationals trophy. I had one just like it.

The Kenny Ellis photo looks like '62 to me. Not sure about the Olds Dragmaster. Your guess is as good as mine Dave.

Stormin Norman Gray, one of the early "Pro 5.0 Mustang" racers. He passed away a few years ago...

'B/SR - 289cu.in.? Is there a blower tucked away in there somewhere? What am I missing? Dean?

  25. The weight Gabe. I ran 283 to 300 cu in. at 8lbs per cu in 300" = 2400 lbs ready to race. In 67 the weight requirement was dropped to 7.5 lbs per cu in. The black car had no front brakes, no exhaust system, no charging system, among other street legal requirements. That's why I hung it up. I am proud that my B/SR was always capable of legal street operation, and I didn't want to ruin the car so I parked it. That was the end of real street hot rods in NHRA. '68 tube frames became legal, and that was the beginning of the end for Gassers and street roadsters. :(

I can see why you hung it up.

NHRA was great at taking wonderful and exciting drag classes..............and ruining them. And it's still going on today. Does anyone remember when Pro Stock race cars were actually built out of OEM stock cars?

Please, Dean, don't get me started...

Those were the days, when quarter mile drags were actually 1320 feet.

  29. NHRA has always felt the need to muck up anything drag racing related ie. CHRR this year. When you screw up a reunion so bad that you get an icon like Steve Gibbs to resign from his job you have reached the pinnacle of assholism. Coming soon, a new T-shirt; National Hemorrhoid and Rectum Association, wanna race? bend over.
