  1. Here is my vote. I still have a weakness for this ride. Had the model car as a kid>>>>.

  2. Love the old leather helmet sticking above the roll bar. Man, what a simpler time. :)

  11. OK, if we are doing our favorites, here's my all time favorite race car, of any type. To me, the most awesome fuel coupe that ever ran down the 1/4 mile. In the summer of 63 I followed Gene and Larry to all their Drag News Jr. Eliminator # 1 title defense races. I watched Gene in the pits clean the plugs with Carbon-Tet, and run the valves after every run. The night Larry ran in the 8's for the first time at LIONS I was both excited, and sad. The Jr. Eliminator was for cars above 9 seconds, and I knew I had just seen the end of an era. I did the hokey drawing one day during lunch at the shop.

  16. The HA/GR guys should take note of streamlining affect of the sheetmetal.

  18. Holy crap Royal. That pic is awesome. Driver placement not to important. Just climb in don't let your nads bang on the 3rd member, when we place your foot on the go-pedal we'll make sure it's wide open. And those boots, priceless. And don't worry, nothing could go-wrong>>>>.

What an incredible shot. With the cowling removed, you can really sense the danger these guys faced. Hand grenade engine maybe a foot away, legs resting atop the rear end, with the cowboy boots mashing the go-pedal all the way to the firewall. No room for error, no place to hide

Looks like a test pass and the beggining of data recorders.
I wonder is the little gadget taped to the steering box a mic a sensor or a fire bottle nozzle.
What's the scoop on this pic Royal?

I was a "Mongoose kid" from 5 years old on! All those passes in the best fuelers (set on kill) over and over nearly every weekend for decades, and barely a scratch. That's a blessed driver right there man.

Also, you AUSSIE'S are serious ain't ya? Those last 2 cars look real. Are you gonna smoke the tires '60s style or keep doing current style passes with those?

Looks like you're all set up to do it...Be the FIRST and push start those killers to the line, roll AROUND the water box, line 'em up and HIT IT with tires BLAZIN'!!!!! It'll freak everybody out, trust me on that one...
