  1. Kenny Lindley's Miss Fire was sure a beautiful car in it's day.

The world's heaviest (and most unlikely) funny car. Although the body is fiberglass it was built for a Ford TV ad where the car was airlifted to the top of a remote location--a mesa if my memory is correct. When the shoot was over Sheldon Kornblatt purchased the body shell and built a chassis to suit. Fittingly Gary Cochran (of Mr C Ford powered AA/C fame) was one of the drivers who steered "Peanuts" during its career.

Brutus was actually owned by Lew Arrington who later fielded a 68 Firebird and a 71 Mach 1 before closing out his career in a rocket powered Mach 1. His son (Lew III aka "Son of Brutus") crewed for Bazemore, Tolliver and Force as a "diver".

Gary "Mr C" Cochran in the second of his SPE cars. The first was the former Gas House Gang car that Gary originally ran very successfully in top gas before stepping up to the nitro ranks but that car was trashed in a towing accident as the team was on its way to the 1969 Nationals. This shot from Carlsbad is probably from early 70 as the car made its debut at Irwindale in December of 1969 and the body appears to be unpainted here.

That must have been very early in Hubert's FoMoCo career. He ran the Z-11 in 1963 (the first Georgia Shaker) and then drove Alan Hyder's R code Galaxie (White Lightning) as he transitioned to full time drag racing. The T'bolt is the "Little Georgia Shaker". In the past I would have called him to find out more about the event shown on the movie but unfortunately he passed away in September of 2015 at the age of 83.

Taken the same day as the fuel motor shot, it was I believe a NHRA points meet. I have shown these before a long time ago so forgive me for the duplicate. This B/Altered car belonged to my friend Brooke DeShaw (rip) and ran out of the Roadmates Club in Mississauga, Ontario.

I wonder how many of these cars are still around just setting in barns or fields?

I have never seen this photo previously, but am intrigued by the '61 Hawk. Does anybody know any details?

Judging by the single rail guard rail this photo dates back to the late 60's/early 70's but Jerry is still running this truck at 80 years of age. His most recent appearance was at Sacramento just a couple of weeks back. Read more about him here; https://www.facebook.com/GeneralJerryLee/

This was taken at Santa Ana in April '57, and I am pretty sure Tony started running his roadster around '55, first with a GMC then an unblown Desoto before going to the front-mounted blower (which I saw blow its hood off at Bakersfield in '60)..... This might be the Shafters dragster from Fallbrook, CA, but not entirely sure.

Great picture, interesting that the guy behind the car is wearing a Blair's T-shirt, ... I worked there for some years in the early '60s......this track looks like Irwindale...

Kenny Lindley's "Misfire" -- this car went through numerous transformations before it reached this stage, but it was too heavy to compete with the new Fuller-style cars coming into existence then.
