The blown "street roadsters" you see here were part of the So-Cal A/Gas Open circuit that existed from about 1966-1970. The circuit quickly began to deviate from NHRA's definition of what constituted a legal gasser giving rise to what you see here. These cars were basically left hand drive altereds with small grill and fenders, illegal engine set back and weight breaks that were well below a legal gasser. It didnt matter to the circuit guys as they were more then happy to race the weekly 8 car open events that paid decent money and avoid the drudgery of racing a comp elim type event where you had to go a few rounds to earn ice cream money

  2. Hi,I am new to this forum, but all us car guys are sort of bonded by our love for these crazy Hot Rods, race cars and motorcycles, and everything automotive in general, I have been looking for any photo's of a 1940 willys gasser pick-up named Mighty-Mouse that was owned and driven in the 60's and 70's by the late Leroy Philson, the truck ran at various tracks in California but mostly at Fremont, the truck was an ugly green when it was first built but then was painted yellow, with a image of Mighty-Mouse on both doors,I have a grainy tape of the truck from the Jackson Bro's,Mr.Philson had moved back to Louisiana with his wife Bonnie, and I visited with him four about 4 hours 3 weeks before his death,I had bought a willys truck and had it shipped here in 1995,and was told that it may have been his truck, but never the less I now am restoreing it as close to the way it was in the 60's in his honor and memory,so please if you have any photo's of this truck in green or yellow, that I could use for research in building this truck, please pm me,post them of the forum,or e-mail them to me at: tufenuf4u07@aol.com and I thank you so much. Greg!!

The Fairlane two door sedan is a Van Cleave car if Im not mistaken. This car ,if it is Van Cleave, now is in Alabama and is campaigned by the Johnson family.

    Bob W,

Did you have press credentials to get all these good starting line shots?

  15. Great to see my old buddy Eddie Rezac's world record holder from beautiful Wahoo Nebraska. On of the real deep thinker in the Super Stock wars is currently running an Opel GT.

I see a picture of the Tameless Tiger on this thread. Arnie Beswick's grandson lives near me here in Texas. I have a few old tee shirts he has given me, and a thousand interesting stories about Arnie.
