It was a 6 banger. Did they call it H/MP in the real early 70s? I know they did in the mid 70s.

These are from Bowling Green this past weekend. I will post some more when I sort through the 180+ pix that I shot.

i raced street cars at fontana in 1966 -67 after the army i raced at lions, erwindale and ocir. my memory of fontana was we got a lot of runs in. and the track was very minimal. we used to joke about getting bitten by a rattler getting youe ET slip on the return road. never went to a big race their , just weekend stuff. had fun

I was a bare-bones track. There was no electricity at most of the track. Any lights beyond the starting line got it's power from a generator at the base of the light pole. Fontana and Route 66 back in the 60's was nothing but a few wooden houses, large fields of grape vines, Hells Angels, wind, a Polka Hall, eucalyptus trees and more wind.
    I loved it out there...
It's really depressing at the intersection of Foothill and Etiwanda today...
The site of some crazy racing is now just convenience stores and eyesores.

Thank Goodness Famoso is still pretty primitive...

One of my favorite funny cars! Love the candy red paint and the gold striping. Thanks for posting!
