    Nick use to come over to the trailor and see us once and a while when I was running with Richard Holcomb's T/F car in the late 80's.
    I wonder if he and his wife are still doing ok. JC

    Well, it's not exactly in motion but here it is. We were on our way to the drags in Roswell, NM. I think it was around 1985 or so;

    Yessir, the racing footage in the movie "Two Lane Blacktop" was filmed at Lakeland Drag Strip. I was out there the day of the filming. When it was announced that the James Taylor 55 Chevy would run against the "Mr. Barhdal" Vette we all knew the Vette could take him. The 55 won for the cameras causing many a gearhead to jeer and roll his eyes. :rolleyes:

    But the race footage in the movie is really good, complete with the real voice of the PA announcer.

    Here's another shot of Bill Hielscher's "Mr. Bardhal" Vette from the movie.

  7. I love the body language of the Jeep driver and the look on the starters helpers face and then I noticed there are 2 Christmas trees.

  14. That Nuttin' Fancy coupe is bitchin. I love how they ran the fuel lines through the horn and headlight wire holes in the shell. Cool.

  15. Steve Baker @ Norwalk Raceway Park 1976; Promo pic before his match race with Ron Wood. Norwalk Street Eliminator Cars were extremly fast for the times, most ran small blocks.

    Allison V-12, short wheelbase, "hard" slicks, rocket juice out back (I guess ?). What was the story and outcome Kev?

    Looked at the first pic and said out loud, "that's suicidal", then scrolled down. How did the driver fair? Butch/56sedandelivery.

    I couldn't find any other info on the A/A. I thought at first it could be one of the Robilio cars. Then again maybe it's the Nolan & Wilbanks A/A. Both were local Memphis cars.

    I'm not exactly sure but these pictures may be of a fatal crash that occurred at the 1964 AHRA Nationals at Gary, IN. I think, but am not sure that the car was Lee Pendleton's car and the driver had not made many passes if any in the car prior to this.
    It looks like it had some sort of jet assist device on the push bar ... ?

    Good old pic from Norwalk. Those were the days. Wouldn't have any of Mathias' 55 would you?
    If I'm not mistaken Steve was running a 292 at that time. I'll check with him next time he's at the shop.
