Yup, every kid in the early 60's made that model...Emery Cook (also drove the Garlits Jockoliner)

 

Mazooma, the Monogram Slingshot kit was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the color photo Royalshifter posted. Yes, I built several, as well as one "Long John." Still got a couple reissues in the kit stash.

Dave Daly and Willie (the welder) Feyh BM/SP MG racing Charlie Bouchers C/A at Dover Drag strip NY circa 1964. And racing C/A Plymouth at Dover circa 1963. MG is currently being restored by Pat DiStefano crew kid on MG in the 60's

 

I dig the hell out of this picture, he's all buckled up and has his goggles ready... A shit eatin' grin that sez I'm gonna have fun blowin' you away. No helmet or roll bar tho.

I like the cooling system and hub caps as well.

 

He is also practically sitting on a wired on gas tank!!
