The other car in this picture is the 40' sedan delivery of "Fiberglass Engineering" out of Cochituate, Mass. Fiberglass Enginering was a small speed shop located in the Natick area. I watched them build that car as we were running a B dragster at the time and ther were many deals to be had there. The car was powered by a blown (471 I believe), small block Chevy and it was painted competion orange with gold leaf lettering. It was truly beautiful. That match race was played up big time and the boys from Conn. Dragway all came up to Maine to partake. The hearse won. Mighty handily I might add. But Tasca showed up with their Thunderbolt along with the "Growler", an injected, small block powered Anglia that pulled the wheels in every gear and an austin that I can't remember who owned. Only that he left in a huff after our "flagman" fouled him out for jumping the start. He got out of the Austin on the starting line and through a sissy fit. Opened the hood and slammed it down so hard it bent. Called us all a bunch of hicks, loaded up and swore to never return. Good laughs, good memories. Thanks for the picture.

That damn Shockwave is one of the few things I've ever watched go that actually kind of scared me. You could feel that thing pushing air of it's way as it came towards ya. Watching from the fence at about the 1000" mark had me thinking about exit strategiesin case it got away.LOL
