And the same guy is still the starter there. Good to see those shots of my mates the Eckard boys with their Anglias.

About 350 pages back, this 57 appears and someone asked about a picture of it in motion.

My favorite speed shop - Softy's Speed Shop - is closing after 50 (ish) years in business. Brian Sr. is retiring. I knew there was a picture of the Standing Room Only 57 behind the counter. Brian was there when I went in today and I casually asked if the picture was for sale. He said yes and then added that it cost him $5 for the frame and that's all he would take for it.

Brian didn't say where the picture was taken but if you look sideways the quarter panel shows Softy's as a sponsor. My guess is the picture is from the good ol days of Keystone Dragways up here in Winnipeg.

Brian did mention that the beast had a large metal plate welded to the back of the frame that put a couple of hundred pounds where it counted. You can see it in the picture. Took some brass to drive something like this.

 

Are those photos I posted showing up for everyone else? They did when I posted them, but aren't working now. I'm new here, and trying to get the hang of this photo posting. What's the best way to do it? I'm linking to a Webshots album now.

What year did you take these pictures from National Trails Springnationals? Looks like late 70's? Thanks for sharing.

 

judging by mazi's opel and a truck in the background...maybe around 84/85?

I think they were closer to the late 70's maybe earily 80's.
