Driver Ken Dondero relied on a manual 4 speed to propel the 301" blown chevy. There were not too many blown cars being equipped with a 4 speed stick. A testimant to his driving skill

I saw this car launch its blower in the lights, cracking the plexiglass windwhield. It surfaced not too long afterwards with Rajay Turbo!

  11. The Rodekopf's owned an AMC dealership in the KC area (Independence) and Brian was a big time drag racing nut; drove a whole series of PS cars (AMX's, etc.). In '76 he took me for a ride in a '69 AMX they had on the lot that was....um....very memorable!

[FONT=Arial,sans-serif]Below is a reply from someone from the thread that sent me a private email ... I tried sending the reply below to the private email you gave me but it keeps bouncing back. I'm sending the reply via the thread, I hope you get it. Joel

I didn't post that picture on the HAMB but I did reply/comment on it. There were a couple of Butler Willys pictures posted by someone else. I don't know if Butler is still alive but I do know that he was a strong runner and Ford man. Around about '65-'66 he had a small block Falcon Ranchero that ran one of the AHRA modified classes and was a real contender at the summer AHRA meets at Green Valley. One of the magazines at the time reported Bill Heilscher (sp?) driving the Falcon and possibly winning class and an eliminator. In my talks with Tommy Mcneely Tommy has said that he drove for Butler some but did not say exactly which car(s). Tommy is still around in TX. When I get back in touch with Tommy I'll try to get some information on Butler.
That rear window and the filled deck lid are unusual for a gasser of the time period ... possibly the window and lead filled deck were for weight?

Tell me about your Lincoln racing ...

A little history on this gold and yellow van. Originally powered by a straight 8, owner and magneto guru Don Zig pushed it to mid 11's. Later Bob Lilligard planted an injected 427 BBC and ran low 9's and 148 plus

This car belonged to the Zellar Bros, who later became more famous for their Midnight Skullker flopper
