Also the white paint in the pie-crust slots.

  7. I just look at the front of my T-shirt to see what I had for lunch the day before...

Love this 'version' of The Flying Dutchman.

What's the deal with so many of these early funnies having what appear to be 2 fuel tanks??

I know that current funnies burn stupid amounts of fuel.....I'm guessing that even the early ones would go through enough to require 2 of those smallish tanks. Come on....one of you experts out there.....give us the skinny!!!!!

  11. Re the front wheels, take a look at the graphic behind the HAMB logo at top of this page ..

The second tank contained water. A lot of the cars were still running water for cooling. Bruce Larsons Camaro used the stock mechanical fuel pump to circulate water. Some also used small electric pumps. Remember this was all before the billet, non-coolant blocks from Keith Black and others. And that's.......the rest of the story. :D

A few tidbits to share here. First, the California Stud wagon was originally Gas Ronda's last ride, the one where he got burned up in at Beeline in 1970 AHRA Winternationals. Bowman ran the car in its original state but later made a major overhaul as you see. The blue destroyed blue Camaro belonged to then 50 something Norm Cowdrey. The 392 powered car crashed on the top end at Irwindale in late 68. And as for Doug Nash's Bronco Buster, it was death trap for its ultra light race weight was acheived through fragile, paper thin shelby tubing. FYI
