And last but not least... not all trailers are created equal.
(check out Jegs & Rod Shop in the back)
(Hope this shot don't break no rules on the board, if
so strike it) Thanks for having me in tonight.

The green Javellin was dubbed the Jolly Green Javellin. It was a member car on the East Coast Fuel Funny Car Circuit, an association for injected funnies based off the Eastern Sea Board

Well, most of these had to come from Dragway 42 in West Salem, OH
or Quaker City Salem (not west) OH, Thompson Dragway near Cleveland, OH, Milan MI, Martin MI, Saginaw, MI, Columbus, OH from 68-71.
That was when Dad ran the (only) A/FD in and Outlaw Circut that
bunched AA/FA. AA/GD, AA/GA all in heads up racing. Then we bought the
AA/FD and ran the Mid-West UDRA AA/FD Circut with Lahaie, Pat Dankin
(G.L. Rupp), Ron Potter (Golden Nugget), Jim Paloi (Pack Rat), Jim Walter
(Special Edition) Lou Novotney(the Rouge) Poncho, (Frito-Bandito)
Jim Butcher (Mr. SB Chevy), Blue Angels, etc. Sorry I did not jot down the track names on the back of the pics. I'll try & do better in the next life. :)

  9. The Corvair on funny car on the previous page has an interesting history.Started as a Malcom Durham "Strip Blazer" in 1966.He stretched it,and was still running the car when he added a blower to it.Gene Altizer bought it and ran it in the circuit WCD mentioned,in 1969.This photo you posted was from the same circuit, now in 1970.It was run here by Nick Boninfante. The other name on the car is Bob Maiocco(sp).Well travelled funny car ! The Gene Altizer Chevy II you posted was originally a Jungle Jim car from 1979. Dennis Doubleday

Wow! More great info. Finally some sort of closer on some of these
old pics. I was really too busy helping out on the A/FD to soak in all
the info on the other cars in the pits. I just loved to take pics at the time.
Thanks for all the great stories - Smoke.

Sounds like an early precurser to Pro-Comp. Out west we had a similar set up called Combo-Eliminator that ran from 68-73.

I wish I could help you out. These are just some of the pics I found in the closet. I can tell you that it was probably at Union Grove, In the time frame of '72-'74ish. Running in the IFCA circuit - a forerunner to the Pro Am III BB/FC circuit that ran through the midwest.

Since I'm guessing Union Grove (awfully sure) I would take a strong educated guess and think that "Ray-Mar" took these pics...I have no idea what happened to him - or where he is - but I can tell you he is remembered as a friend of the family and crew - a good guy - took alot of pics back in the day - in the midwest - he was stationed up near Union grove...

I got a pic of him sitting in my dads car - that he credits the photo to the old man - funny juxtaposition.

I would bet he's got more pics than the internet could hold. If you can track him down - say Hi for me.

    Sorry I can't help more...

Man that's cool that you posted the Milan and Martin connection - I was seeing a bunch of background in your pics that was driving my mind nuts - kept thinkin' well I guess they had the same trees there...Now I know they were the trees I remember...Forty some years - I can pick out the tree stand north of Milan's staging lanes like yesterday....And we didn't even race there often...later on...

To my dim eyes, the motor looks like a SOHC Ford, so if so, would not be Shubeck...maybe Tom Hoover before the full body?

Thanks for posting, very cool shots
