Noel Black was his name I think. B&N Automotive based out of Sacremento was the firm that built the Rhino streamliner that was to later set forth on the salt in an effort to take away the Summer Bros record.

^^That car took a thrashing from what I've heard. An accident while hauling did it in I think. I recently saw a pic Dan Bell had posted of that car doing one hell of a wheelstand.

Nothing falling off of the Hubert Platt Mustang ... the hood is off that's all. He's running Bobby Woods' Chevelle in a match race at one of the Georgia tracks, Dallas, GA if I'm not mistaken. This car may have been the very first long nose Mustang, built by Hubert Platt himself, not one of the Holman Moody cars.
The AWB T-Bolt is Emmett "Snake" Austin at LIONS dragstrip in CA, in late 1965-early 1966.

The highway accident took place sometime after the posted picture of the car doing the wheelstand against Bobby Woods' Chevelle.

I wish I would have had the money to buy this tribute car at Bowling Green several years ago. The first year I saw it it didn't have a motor.

I'm guessing that has a straight axle from something and the whatever that axle is would be the bolt pattern for those wheels. Possibly Anglia...???
I doubt there were any "space-savers" in the mid-60's...

It's taken me several weeks to go from page 1 to 786 and it's been a most enjoyable experience. Thanks to Royal Shifter for kick starting it and everyone who has carried on the momentum. A big thanks to the Eastman Kodak families for the film ! Looking forward to more photos and I need to dig into what I have and sling it up here.

  27. Not Dean Moon. It is Creighton Hunter in his flying wedge. Sideways flathead power, direct chain drive to a live rear axle. No clutch. The engine was fired while the car was raised on small dolly wheels. The revs brought up, the the driver dropped the car onto the track. Made for some interesting starting line antics. The "eyes" were Creighton's creation. They also appeared on his track/drag T roadster. Moon "borrowed" the design for his then new Moon Equipment Co.
