Hey, Bub....I made a living at photography and all the drag racing stuff I ever did has been posted here...without any credit or watermarks. I'm more than happy to share.
As far as posting other people's photo's, if there is any identifying marks or a name, then I will post the name of who is responsible. Thats fair.
But, honestly, there are 1000's of photos out there with nobody's name on them...so, what do I do...never post it?
I've had my photos used in countless films and books at no charge to the authors. Most are my friends and we share a mutual love for racing so I'm happy to provide them with material.
Look at the 3 DVD set called "Lions, the Greatest Drag Strip" and you'll see many of my photos and film footage, and on and on and on.
As long as nobody is making money by misrepresenting the fact that they are the photographer and/or as long as they get my permission, what do I care?
Again...if there is a way to give credit, then I will.
If not, I'll post them anyways. I'm not "selling" them, I'm "sharing" them.

You know what's even bettter? When photographers pay thier models whether it's a person or a person's propertwy that is used.
If I take a picture of your car and profit from it I don't have to give you squat.

Look, Bub:), if you have any photos to post, make sure your name is on them and from then on, you'll get the credit that you deserve.
AND, if you know of any photographers who have been neglected, post the photo again with their name.
Outside of that, I don't know what to tell you. The only other option would be to not post photos on any message board or the HAMB...period.
    I'm afraid that won't happen.
In the meantime, I'm pretty confident that nobody here is trying to sell them or misrepresent themselves as the photographer.
I never made a dime on any of my drag racing shots. I've been going to the drags for 50 years, but the photos that I've taken were sheer pleasure and nothing more than a hobby.
There's no way I would ever make a living shooting the drags....
I'm surprised that I didn't throw them out or lose them over the years.
The HAMB has given me an opportunity to share the photos that I didn't think that anyone would ever want to see...and through that, I get to share some great, fun times many, many years ago.
And, no, I'm not missing the point...the point is to share and have a few smiles.

Thankyou Mazooma1! I could not have said it any better.

I suppose that drag classic or whatever the fng's name is would prefer that everyone keep their old photos in that box in the closet and let them deteriorate. Get a life is right.

Also thanks to all the members that have posted old drag photos on this thread.

    That's my to pesos.

  10. As one who has posted photos here, and greatly enjoyed the photos others have taken the time to post, I think you, sir, are the one who needs to "get a life". No one is making a dime sharing these fantastic photos from drag racing history. We don't need the photo police wasting band width on this awesome thread.

dragway classic....... Mazooma1 has provided us with 1,000's of images of drag cars and many shows and events that he has taken. We appreciate his efforts.

Many other HAMB'ers take photos and post here just to share with others.

Nobody is making any money posting pictures here. Most of the time the photographer is not known.

This is not the proper place to voice your objections reguarding copywright laws. If it bugs you, stop looking at it.

Hey Guys, I thought I'd chime in, I just went thru some sh-t on the dirt modified thread. Some clown right clicked a bunch of my families shots and put them up for sale on ebay, I contacted ebay and they must have got a hold of him, and he took them down, he emailed me swearing that he didn't lift them, but he had at least 75% of the shot I posted in his albums for sale. I've been posting my family shots of sprint cars on the sprint car thread, I don't mind any body right clicking the shots for their enjoyment but when trying to sell them on ebay or craigslist as their originals is pretty low, I've been posting to keep the memories alive for past, present, and future, And I love all your guys shots! these are my two favorite threads. just figured I'd give a heads up, Thanks for all your great shots & keep em coming.....Rich

Rich...all of us understand your frustration. That's wrong and the guy had no right to do that...MOST people are pretty decent, but we always remember to ones who do us wrong. Self-defense mechanisim I guess.

The one fellow that posted a few posts ago, Dean Lowe, can tell you...he has many "new" photos of his winning street roadster (pictured in his avatar) that he would have never seen if it weren't for the HAMB. People say..."Hey, I've got a photo of that guy's car I took 45 years ago...and BOOM...Dean has a new addition to his family photo album. I was digging through my old negatives and BINGO...a shot that I took of Deans car at Lions Drag Strip. Just the negative, but I quickly got a print and sent it to Dean. Who would have guessed that a guy who I consider a friend today would be the owner of a car that I photographed 45 years ago, when I was 14!

HAMBer, Tom Davison sent me a photo of my Model A panel delivery that he took in 1967 at an indoor car show...without the HAMB, I would have never seen it....
There's an awful lot of generous people here, more than willing to help and share in the excitement that we all have for some of the best days of our lives....

  14. Sigh. Copyright law is valid, while using the "if you don't like it, don't look" argument isn't. Unfortunately there seems to be a global disregard for "giving credit where credit is due" and acknowledging that you don't know where it's from is the least we should be doing. I see lots of images from Bob Plumer, Doug, Steve Reyes and others and I'm of the opinion that if you do know where you got an image, say so, and if you don't, say that. It's easy to do and if you can spend the time to right-click-save-resize-upload-post, then you can spend a few more seconds doing acknowledgements.

Mazooma1, I'm with you on that,If it wasn't for the encouraging words and support of the guys on the sprint car thread, I would've probably packed up the two milk crate size boxes of negatives I have and put them back in the cellar where I found them not to be seen again, like you said theres alot of great and generous people here, so I'm going to keep posting the shots to keep the memories of the past here in the present and for the future generations to scope out.....Rich

I just want to say Mazooma , NITROFC , MCINK and all the other guys who posted pictures THANKS . Sometimes I could be having a bad day and I'll hop on here and get lost looking at some great pictures that take me back to when I was young boy sitting in the stands watching some of these great cars run even if it's for a few minutes. Again Thanks.

  18. At a risk of being jumped on by the "HAMB Drama Police" by all, can we just get on with the show...
