History Drag cars in motion.......picture thread.

I thought that I had posted these before but I guess that I haven't. It's the very first pass down the Woodburn, Oregon Dragstrip with my buddy Don Stafney running his '34 Ford in A/Gas with a Chevrolet Banner on the side of all things and Dick Martin in his B/Roadster entry. This took place in June 1961 and then in June 1986 they took a 25 year picture of the two. I'm also including a picture of the original timing tower.

Delmar became very active in the Pretzel City Street Rod Club in the 70's and drove this same Plymouth to many Rod Runs all over the East Coast. He or his son may still have the coupe.

Thanks Mattbee, I guess Ol George Schrieber did not remove the signs from his trailer after the 1966 Australian Drag Fest Tour. George is in the process of opening a Drag race museum in Montana.

 

That museum sounds like its going to be really cool

 

Unless he moved it the museum is just outside Springfield, Missouri. Stafford, I think.

 

You are correct, he came from Montana and the letter I received from him recently was post marked Marshfield Mo. Sorry about that.
