Was at the Willys home run and took these shots of the truck. I can't remember the guys name (I should) but it is a perfect resto and it runs like stink. He was paired up to run John Foust in his bad candy red 33 coupe.

Check out the picture cell three up from this one and note owner/driver Gary Densham in the green roadster at Pomona. He appears to be wearing what appears to be the type of goggles we wore in metal/wood shop. How long would those things last when the Hemi grenades?

This is Creighton Hunter's "Slice O Pie". Those are not wheelie bars in the back... The car had no clutch, the wheels would raise the car. With the engine full throttle he would drop it and take off.

Love the gasser shots. Coonrod's 33 was always one of my favorites.

  21. Another inspiration drawn from that car was the 00 "eyes". Dean Moon credited Creighton with their creation, and even ask permission to make them his company logo.

  25. Looking for pics or info on "Devastation" 63 Corvette B/Gasser, Chevy BB 4 speed.
Anybody remember this car? It had a purple Chevelle wagon tow car, 4 sp 396.
I think ran mostly at Irwindale, the owners name was Leo.
Might have run at other SoCal tracks. This was 1968 or so.
    Anybody remember? Thanks!

As most of you know I didn't care & still don't care for the late model GASSERS but I got a folder called The History Of The Gassers and they are a part of the history so I've to add them.

I liked his Stude much better.

    Is Ernie still around?

    Thanks,

    Plum
