Wow... I was just a bit furter up track when that happened... Unfortunately that inccident did not have a happy ending as the car then crossed lanes and hit the other wall.... HARD!
The driver was badly injured and the car was toast!

The Bruce Phillips and John Lumb Mustang was an ex 'Nitro" Nick Harmon piece before it came to Australia, where it was run by Graeme Cowin then sold to the P & L Team. When it arrived here it had the roll cage sticking through the roof, I guess Nick was a tall guy. I am not sure but I think it was a green colour.

  6. Thanks rooman- WILD pics.

Is that the Geoff Pratt F/C that burned to ground @ Adelaide ? Maybe it was this car I saw hydraulic'ed or blowing away the bottom end on start-up at one of the Adelaide Grand Prix demo's. I remember at this incident overhearing Geoff casually discussing with crew an overnight haul to Melbourne to fix it.. hardcore determination.

Plum, I'm constantly amazed at the quality and amount of pictures you took back then. Between the ones you post here and on the Gas/fx board, I've seen a ton. But you always seem to have more. Thanks a lot for being so generous with sharing them. Mike

There's yet another view of that wheelie from the front. I know it's on this thread here somewhere.

Kirby set the new standard for race paint schemes. Him and Youngblood of course. Bold graphics, air brush lights and grill work serve as their contribution to the artistic side of drag racing. Oh, and the white and blue Challenger was driven and tuned by Arnie Beswick.

    BP,
I see some of your fantastic photos got a little discolored. I took your great shot of the Beach City Corvette and removed the stains from it for you. Please keep posting your photos ! they're tremendous.

The last photo thread I sent this wasn't it it for some reason. It was the one that said the winner is.

    EVERYBODYS HERO, TV TOMMY IVO.

I can rember rushing home from school to catch the Mickey Mouse Club shoe to see you know who. LOL Anyway heres this kid on there by the name of Tommy Ivo. Never in my life did I ever think of seeing him person & becoming good friends.

Hell, he was a big movie star playing in all those old B movies about Hot Rods. Seen him on many TV shows & other movies.

Did you know he had a part in Blackboard Jungle? Rock Around The Clock days.

Its with such great pleasure to be able to call him a very good friend.

Well, the doctore says everything looks good and I guess I'll be around for another year. At least she made me a another visit for next year. LOL

Really though, when I went into the hosptial a little over 2 years & hearing the doctor telling my wife if I would have been 15 mintues later I wouldn't have made it. Then they ask me if I wanted a preist it finally got to me that it was serious. They told me later that the operation I had that 80% didn't come through it.

Nice odds. So I'm lucky & I'm glad I'm still around to share you my collection. TANK ALL OF YOU for your comments.

You won't see it all as I'm sure I'll be gone before I can scan all the stuff I got.

    Thanks,

    Plum

The thing I like about Ivo was that he always incorporated a neat tail section to the body work long after it was out of style.
