I love this thread, I keep finding myself back here.

  4. I get a kick out of driving my Riviera, looking over the hood , and feeling just one Nailhead. What a view this would be, well, what you could see over all the tire smoke. Did somebody say torque steer? What a monster!

A pretty cool video of Tommy describing how the car works.

Again, if this is already here, I apologize for the repeat, but this thread is over nine hundred pages long, so...

Mazooma1............I know you liked the shot of Eddie Sanzo's Willys pick-up. I found these 2 in Gasser Wars......Great Gasser Mag by Larry Davis if you can find one.

I decided to add this picture since its one of the oldest ones I have of this car. I found the car and brought it back to its former glory and have a very large collection of photos of Jim Zakia's 55. This is when Jim was running B/G with a 352 ci small block in 1961.

Jim sold the 55 to Bill Dininny in 1965, he changed the lettering.

That is a great looking 55 chevy.

This era in drag racing had many really sharp looking cars with their straight front axles and sitting up nice and high.

The pictures really bring back some wonderful memories of a time when drag racing just seemed to be so much more fun and not so much about just spending money.

    Thanks Jimbo

Bill Dininny sold the car to Jim Lapey in 1966 or 1967 and Lapey removed the lettering and raced it plane and with the Red 55 lettering. Lapey also changed the rear ladder bars to make the rear lift at launch.

Jim Lapey sold the car to Duane Falcone in 1968 and Duane painted the car silver metalflake and installed a silver flake tuck and roll interior with old Corvette seats that is still in the car today. He also added the 427 Corvette scoop, 427 L-88 motor and Cragars wheels. The Cragars wheels are also still with the car today.

Heres a nice 56 that was raced out of Hanover Pa, by Charley Garrett in the late 60's.

This is most critical as he approaches the line at speed. The thing will repsond to steering input like a go-kart. The slightest over correction, and its Mr Toad's Wild Ride
