Here's a good old story concerning Wild Willie... '69, '70 or '71, can't remember which, at Fremont. I was helping out on a AA/GD and during qualifying on Sat. it threw the blower belt and bent the crank snout. Took the crank to Ashland (I think) machine shop at Vic Hubbards and the machinist put it on rollers, zeroed it in with a dial indicator, took aim and smacked it once with a soft mallet. Perfect! Couldn't find a new belt though, so we searched the pits and Wild Willie had an old one he gave us...That's the brotherhood of drag racing. The car owner jokingly told Willie it looked as bad as our old one (except it was in one piece). Willie said, "that thing's got another 20 runs on it!" He was right.

Found a couple of Funny Car pics from York US 30 from the 70's. The pictures yellowed over the years so they did'nt clean up to well with my photo repair. I did'nt remember K.S. Pittman with a Vega Funny car.

Also, between Blevins and Gapp; Charlie Castaldo's Pro Stock Dart Sport. Charlie ran Super Stocks, Gassers before that, and finally pro stock.
Blavins car is one of the early SRD Vegas, the cars that ruined pro stock, IMO.

this car was racing at Thunder Valley Dragways in Marion, SD this past weekend.
I didn't get to talk to the owner to find out more information as to its heritage.

I saw this car run in October 1969 and the BOSS 429 was replaced with a Cammer. I think the 426 was used in 1970. Several years later Tommy Grove told me once Ford stopped supplying 429 parts, many Ford teams reverted back to the Cammer or switched to Chrysler.

Shoot, ltown, I wish I would have known. I was the guy at the top of the hill sitting on the guardrail. Here's a few more for your scrap book. I think the only car I have more pics of that yours was the green wrecker with trailer. That was sharp too!
