Just wanted to let you know my computer crash again & I finally went out and bought a new one. Its a 8 GB so it has plent of memory.

So you would think thats good news, it isn't.

These new computers doesn't come with anything exceptye internet explorer. Any programs you want you have to buy extra. Its a HP by the way but they're all like that. The programs you buy runs anywhere fro $100.00 to $600.00 dollars. Some of the programs you can only use once. So if I want to put the progran on Dottie's computer I'ld have to get another program. Some programs you can get will let you add to another computer but than your talking a couple of hundred dolaars mor for the program.

Now heres where the fun came in, before I bought the computer I took my model #'s for my scanner & printer to see if they would work with the new computer, nn problem they told me. (Staples) I get everything hooked & the scanner & printer won't work. Get HP on the phone & spent over 5 hours trying to straighten.it out with them. I'll give HP a good word as they did everything they could to try & straighten it out.

Anyway, way the problem they say is that my new computer is a 64 bit & my old one is a 32 bit & thats why the the scanner & printer won't work. I have been searching the net for a 32 bit but can't find them anywhere. Today we;re taking the computer back & see if we can find one somewhere.

My old computer came with outlook express but the new don't have it, thats another extra program you got to buy.

The new computer has Windows 7 which I didn't care for at all. Truble is they all got that now too.

I really like the way the strores tell you, oh yea it will work only to find out when you get it home it doesn't work. What really pisses me off I even gave them the model #'s so I wouldn't have any problems.

Its a dog eat dog out there. They will tell you anything to sell you something.

So until I get this problem work out I won't be sending anymore photos until I get everything straighten out.

    SORRY,

    Plum

Plum, for your email, try Mozilla Thunderbird. It's a free download and works very similar to OE. I suppose there are exceptions, but most folks I know really despise the Windows Mail that comes with Win7.

    Everybody:

I'm going to try & use what came with the computer & see how I like it. I heard good things about Thunderbird so I'll probaly try that also.

I also found out that HP has a site & a program that will let me use my scanner. Why HP didn't infourm me of that when I was on the phone with them I don't know.

Dottie is catching up on her work so we won't try to set up until tomorrow. I sure hope I can get Photoshop to install.

Can't wait until I burn up those 8 GB. LOL

    Thanks members.

    Plum

P.S. I'm typeing this on the old computer but don't have any idea when it plans to take another DUMP.

Get a memory stick and save all your pictures to that. Your hard drive will work better and the the memory stick is portable. I have a 16G one that has 24,355 files on it and its not even close to half full.

Very cool photos, I think that the racing photos were taken at Vacaville, not sure if Fremont was open in '58.

Back in the days when car clubs did what they could to dispel the bad image of hot rodders, thus the blood drives, working with cops, emergency road service, etc.

  14. Hey Plum,
Have you tried right clicking the program icon, then click "properties" on the drop down menu. when the small window pops up, click on the "compatibility" tab, then select the version of windows you were running on the old machine.
I have windows 95 stuff running on my XP system.
