History Drag cars in motion.......picture thread.

I owned this car and bracket raced it with a small block Chevy in 1989.

Much of what I know about the car before it got to Oklahoma, was told to me by a guy who called me when I put it up for sale and ran an ad in National dragster. It may have been Pritchard, I can't remember.

Apparently, in the mid 70's one of three partners on the car decided to move home to Oklahoma and took the car with him. A guy in Broken Arrow, Okla., traded a motorcycle for the complete "Beaver Hunter" ready to run with nitro 392 and a open trailer. This guy never raced it but started it up a few times just to make the neighbors happy.

It wound up on a used car lot in Tulsa. Ron Dudley (Ron is the guy who years later almost burned to death in the "St. Moritz" AA/FC) Ron is driving down east 11th in Tulsa and sees the car and buys it complete for $2800. The only time I ever saw Ron run the car was when he Bracket raced it, WITH the nitro 392, complete with push starts and a 8.50 dial, sideway most of the time while he chased down another small block Camaro.

The car went through a couple more owners, and got a small block Chevy before I got it. Last I heard, around 1994, it was in the Houston area.

 

That is a great story and piece of history.

Although I'm not in motion at the moment I am going to Panama City, FL this weekend for the Old Drag Racers Reunion. Is anyone else planning on going??

In years past this has been a real good show. Lots of old time dragracers and cars and BS. As one old racer said a couple of years ago, "the older we get, the faster we were".
