Finally after 40 years I have a "Drag cars in motion" Brother Mike handling the driving chores.

The avatar is my car at Island Dragway in 1965.

I'm so glad to have found this thread!!

    I'm looking for some help....

I'm looking for ANY photos of the cars that were driven/owned by Tom "Smoker" Smith. I have found a couple in this thread of the Virginia Twister which he drove for a while for Kenny Warren. He also drove the following:

1963? Plymouth I think the color was sorta of a light purple and it just had L.p. Stuart on the doors

1965 Belvedere also had LP Stuart on the car and was yellow and later had altered wheel base with Hilborne tubes out the hood

1966 Baracuda was yellow and later was metal flake silver was in Super Stock (9/1966 issue) I was pictured with him in that issue at 16 years old and I think also and earlier edition of Super Stock had the car in it when it was yellow. This car had Smokerruda on the sides.

    1968 Baracuda The Virginia Twister

    1969 Charger The Virginia Twister

    1970 Challenger The Virginia Twister

Picture quality doesn't matter and it doesn't even matter if the car is in the backround, on the trailer or on the track.

I was the kid that lived across the street and when my dad died Smitty kinda took me under his wing. So I got to go to a lot of races with him and his son Mike as I grew up in the 60's. I got to do things with them I would never have done with out them, like meeting Ronnie Sox. So now I want to make a sorta video montage of photos of these cars and DVD it and send it to Smitty as a suprize, sort of a tribute to the guy that helped shape my life.

If you can help me out with any of these photos it would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks!

You're right Pat,it's simple.I don't fit in a lot of things anymore either.

Pic is from October 3,1965.South Glens Falls Dragway SS/FX meet. That's the MG from Norwood Chevrolet out of Rhode Island.
Search for a thread I just did on this show here.Punch in "45 years" and it should pop up.Bunch of pics from that day.

Are there any photos of Larry 'Trojan Horse' Fullerton's rear engined funny car?
The story goes that he warmed it up in a parking lot and wrecked it around a telephone pole. Aside from his story, I've never heard anyone speak of it.

Smokey you have no idea how much!! Getting a little help with these pictures from the folks here has been a gigantic improvement over where I was before. So, keep them comming guys!!!! Keep digging through those boxes of photos and magazines!! You have ALL been a huge help so far!!

    Thanks!

Now, I'm thinking and this could get dangerious, there MIGHT be some people here who may have connections to Tom "Smoker" Smith.

So here's what I'm thinking...if there are maybe I could get photos of them from the old days and one of them now. Maybe even add a recording of them saying hi!

I wonder if it would be OK to start a thread for this cause I feel like this might lead to a hijack of this thread. I don't want that to happen because this is a great source of drag history and pictures.
