The row of trees is reminiscent of the old Fontana track but I don't remember the tower-like structure that would have been to the left of the left lane or the dirt berm either. Of course, I didn't race there prior to 1964. The car behind the bike in the background might be a clue but I can't satisfy myself as to the make and model.

  3. A stalwart of Northwest racing for several years. I have a color pic I can post later.

  4. If you are talking about the "Hawaian III" thing, it's Santa Pod in England.

  5. Here's Art Whipple's 69 Camaro. If I remember correctly, and I probably don't, this is the previously posted Richard Schroeder car re- bodied as a 69.

  6. Another Northwest regular for several years, the Northwest Nite Corvette.
After it's nitro days, the car was bracket raced for eons, might STILL be for all I know!

  7. Yet another NW car. I think this was Mike Miller's first FC, he raced well into the 70's.
These pics bring back many teenage memories for me, of hot summer days at Woodburn dragstrip.

  8. The late great "Action Man", Kenney Goodell's seldom seen 68 Cuda.[IMG]

  9. The replacement for Gary Coe's awsome 57 Ford, the Gunfighter mustang C/A.

I believe I have seen every post on this thread but I haven't seen any pictures of a 55 or 56 Chevy called TABASCO. When I was a kid I remember a photo op in Hot Rod magazine, had a cutaway picture of the car. At the time I though it was the coolest and fastest thing going. Any help from the experts hear???? Just another memory pulled outta my past:D

In driving along the 605 Freeway, as you approach Rivergrade Road, you can see the So-Cal Edison facilty where the San Gabe track was once located. I was told that there is some remnent of the strip still there with the center divider still somewhat evident

  27. A tribute to Nitromethane.
It's in a Fuel Altered. That Old School enough for ya? Is blowing stuff up old school enough? Jeez, for alleged being Hoodlums, some people here have some strict uptight rules and rules. Tell you what, when that motor went, the driver felt pretty much the same as he would have in 1965!
    Lighten up!

I'm not the moderator, Gary. I'm just tellin' you what he said just a few pages back, that if we don't keep it trad, he'll close this thread.
How much lightening up would you expect from folks here if you get this thread closed?

  29. Fair enough.
