Yes...Frank Federici, was from Providence, RI. He was a bit of a character, you could alway count on him for some exciting, sometime crazy runs. He is no longer with us,he passed away several years ago. There were a few funny cars and dragster from the tiny state of Rhode Island back in the sixties and seventies. Tasca Ford AA/FC, Hill Bros. AA/FC, Norwood Chevrolet A/FC, King & Marshal had both AA/FC & AA/FD, The Salemi Bros. AA/FD, Robert's & Pulvar A/FD, Rick Picard AA/FA. Not to bad a count considering you could drive across the state in less than an hour.

  21. A couple other AA/FCs from R.I. back then were Johnny Roderiques "Light My Fire" Corvette, and Dick Pinto's "Super Hustler" Camaro, which was an ex-Mel Perry car.Saw Jungle many times back in the day,but Federici was my favorite showman. At Connecticut one time, after finishing his run,he cranked it around at the end of the track, chutes already deployed, and came screaming up the return road, stopping in front of each set of bleachers, and doing a burnout at each one!GREAT showman! Wasnt that a model from the early 70s? I could swear that I built that when I was about 12. knowing my mother it is packed away in a box in her attic.

Yeah Frankie was New England's version of Jungle Jim Liberman. Wonder if the two ever raced against each other. I'm sorry to hear Frank has passed away, I would have liked to tell him how much I enjoyed his shows. Once at CT Dragway after a run Frank's chutes failed to deploy. He manhandled the car all the way to the end, took the turnoff, exited the track and stopped it on the road leading out. I was there with my brother and sister-in-law and we saw the tire marks where he skidded to a stop. We'd heard the announcer on the loudspeaker describe the situation as it unfolded and we saw the proof. He was a great racer.

Here's the Light my Fire Corvette.

Anyone remember Kenny LaFrance? He's a co-worker and raced at CT Dragway and Dover. He was the parts manager at Partyka Chevrolet in Hamden, CT at the time and this is one of his cars.

There was a match race with Cha Cha and The Snake on July 9, 1978 at CT Dragway. Here's just a few of the pics I took.
