Got side tracked.....back to what I REALLY love.

 

Cannot be 100% sure but, my research so far would say 'no' it was not. I've read that Mickey and Jack planned to attend the '63 US Nationals but had trouble on the road or something to that nature. Also pretty sure Mickey with Jack ran Pomona Jan '63. Both of these events would be after the wheelstand wreck with the Pontiac digger.
My understanding is Jacks 'incedent' happened at Pomona sometime in early '64 with a Ford powered entry. If anyone can confirm or has other info. Please share. M/T switched over to Ford power and development after the Jan '63 GM racing ban that forbade Pontiac in any racing activities, parts, etc.
Most do not know this but, the Pontiac M/T HEMI did not use 392 or modifyed 392 heads. They were a completely new and revised/improved casting with much larger ports and relocated water jackets. Not a pirated copy as has been printed. I have 7 of these heads in my collection including a running engine. Funny when I show one of these heads to a '392' guy, he does not know what he is looking at. I have to tell him. They are that different. Valve covers do interchange though.

Ok, Google is our friend (much like the anti rotation device) "Incident" happened in May 64 at Pomona while wheeling the Spaghetti Benders entry. According to brief bio, spent 42 days in the hospital recovering from said incident (yeah, my butt puckered while I typed that...)
