I beleive that this is Tom Finlay. He ran a blown "Kellison" style comp elim car for a few years, and he originated from Kentucky.

Was this photo of the red A Bone taken at Indy? Those storage tanks look familiar.

  5. This is the top gas car I drove for Jack Doyle in 1968. Winner AHRA Nationals top gas at New York National, AHRA records, couldn't do anything wrong with this car.

Welcome to the HAMB Don....I'd say you were being just a tad bit modest, you drove more cars than that. ;) For those that don't know his name, Don successfully drove for some of the best East Coast T/F & F/C teams over the years.....

Classic Lions, just an atypical line up for Saturday at the Beach. The tomato soup colored Vette roadster in the staging lanes was Mert Littlefields car I think. Unsure of the flathead dragster next to it. Maybe Bill Brodeck.

reply; Thanx so much 35Touring. I did not intend to steal your pic, but I just had to show it here!

I saw a Kellison flip top with an injected smallblock at Crossville Tn last year. The owner stated it came from outside some shop in Murfresboro Tn a couple years back. I can never remember names but I recall the car had some names painted under the trunk lid and a Meguires type logo on the outside.
The owner/driver spoke at length wondering if I recalled this car, and if I'm not mistaken, he did state he believed the car to have come from north in Ky possibly the Lexington region.
I hope this link to this years event and that car works:

  17. He always did, and I'm glad he did......

Doyle was great to work with, which carried over to our days running New England Dragway together.

In my opinion, the greatest drag race photographer, ever, is Steve Reyes. When Steve goes down the track, on the dide of your lane, he is standing a great vantage point point to watch your engine blow up. Steve has a sixth sense about such matters. His PHR photos kept the magazine afloat. Sorry Lenny. He truly was the key guy.

I second that emotion. In addition to being the best "shutter guy" Steve has an incredible collection of nostalgia racing photos he sells at nostalgia events asa well as ebay. If you like the early funny cars, check out his latest book-Funny Car Follies.

Well this I know to be Don Prudhomme, the guy racing Sorokin and the Surfers might be harder to indentify.
