  1. Tune up your computer Mark, or clean your glasses. Two pics of the 15oz coupe, one of which shows up on your reply!

    Dean,
I can't see the pictures either so maybe it is not Mark's computer or glasses.

Yes, I think it looks like a 55 Pontiac with a 55 Chevy front on it in post # 29644. Check the quarter and tail light form.

Since that's Canada, I'm going to guess it's an Acadian.

The only thing I know how to tune up is the race car. This computer is like a mule, it has a mind of its own, and stubborn as hell:D

Thanks Drofrocklogy, that second picture is just how I remember the coupe sitting in Les's driveway. As a matter of fact that is how I remember Les. Someday we will cross paths the sooner the better. Thanks Dean for posting these great pictures. Boy I miss the good old days of non cookie cutter cars. The twilight cruise is definitely a trip back in the time machine and I didn't take one picture, too busy just enjoying the scenery......

  16. Les and the 15oz coupe ruled San Gabriel and Pomona, unless the Gene and Larry show came out to play with the 554. Then the orange '34 was running for second place, as was everyone else. ;)

it is Don Montgomery, still running his GMC, think he won this race, the track was Colton (554 was running a flathead at this time)

I wish Don would post here. The guy has a wealth of history as he was there. I have two of his books; Fuel altereds and blown gassers. Both feature great commentary and photos.

He does occasionally, under "Rockerhead." The last comment I saw was on the Doug Hartlett coupe thread, where he explained the time Doug ran a GMC 6 in the car...You're exactly right, he has a wealth of information on drag racing, hot rods, customs, lakes, etc...I also have almost all his books, hope he does more...

Probably let the girlfriend make a pass, she panicked and lost it as soon as she hit the gas, stayed in it because she didn't know what to do in her panicked state, rolled it over the guardrail and was lucky to get pulled out of the car with a few bumps/bruises. Just a guess. Note the Xmas tree is only a few feet over to the left. "It happened so fast!"
