Drag racing has returned to LI at the old Grumman plant in Calverton after an absence of 17 yrs. Racing was approved for 4 weekends this summer. This weekend was #3. An 1/8th mile track with an et limit of 7 seconds flat and top speed of 115 MPH. It's time trials only and grudge matches. It's been a long time coming but it has happened. Pat
Jalopy I wasn't there a friend of mine was with his 67 Mustang. I would imagine mostly non hamb friendly cars. The important thing is that the outlook for more racing next year is promising. Pat
I’ve been trying to get there myself but had to many things going on. They have plans for a 1/4 mile and I have been told maybe a 1/2. There’s been a lot of push back but hopefully they can keep it going. If I come across any HAMB friendly pics I’ll post them.
Here’s the best one I found. They’ve done a great job for a temporary set up for the trials. There’s another promoter that’s doing more in the end of September . I really hope they can keep this going.
The original promoter for the June races, his program was pulled for some reason. I have a buddy that was set to go for that with an OT Roadrunner. The ones going on now are going well. I am going to try to get spectator tickets to the ones later this month.
