  1. I just brought back a thread on Slot cars,I started a few years ago. Lots of great stuff on there. Check it out...
    "Remember Slotcar places?"

  2. If you're adverse to the drag race scene... This is an awesome track to race on!

A new track opened 1 mile from my house in Mount Holly NJ, road course, oval and a 1/4 mile drag strip. My 2 kids and I are back into it full bore. I've built 12 cars since November.

We race clesses that spec super 16D motors. We build our own chassis from brass, and we make our own controllers from PVC tube and Radio shack. I've got large fishing takle boxes to transport them in. I haven't got $250.00 in our whole fleet of cars!

There is a place in town that has 2 figure 8 tracks and they run sprint cars mostly but you can rent one of theres or bring your own .
I wish they had some drag race tracks there , I would love to build a gasser for that and would really be a hell of a lot cheaper than the real deal , but nothing replaces the real deal when it comes to racing !

  15. You'll have to PM me when you stop down to Scale Model next time and I'll see if I can stop down.

  16. I like the 16d idea I ran some unlimited hardbody stuff in the northwest,y favorite controller for drags was a 60s COX plunger with a microswitch inside thru a "extra" 9volt battery...........can you guys run a hardbody w/o a driver inside?? we had to finish the car off to run back 5 years ago

The most fun I ever had was running the index classes like S/G. In Southern Ca. they run it on a 1.200 Index. It's heads up on a .400 pro light. Only real rules are you have to look like a real Super Gas car. Any motor. no minimum weight. I'd use a super 16D motor with scale 1 5/16 full width tires for realism, and use about 8-56 gear. One hell of a 60' but it would spool out about 3/4 track. You could adjust the E.T. by deep or shallow staging just like a real car!!

I'm going to plan on being there the last Saturday in Feburary so I can meet hiboy32. But useually, I'm there at least one day on the weekends.

Well, ya useally get a bunch of shit for not having a driver, but like I do with some of my cars, I tint the windows black and no one can tell who's driving.

Man I miss slot cars. We'd ride our bikes 7 miles to the Hobby City where they had 4 tracks. 8 lanes per track. .25 for an hour. I built a Tom Daniels model of the Boot Hill Express and put it on the slotty frame. It was top heavy and in the first turn, KAPLOOEY. Boot hill express all over the track. Every body thought it was cool till the track had to shut down for cleanup.
If my kids arent too busy jumping over barrels and getting bananas that represent more lives, they still wouldnt give a hoot.

Thanks, took some doing to get it to run right. I had to tuck the rear tires under the body and put some weight in the front to make it run smooth. went 1.240 last Saturday with a Parma 16D. Need more gear next.
