I suppose the next logical move would be a miniature Carrol Shelby signature on the glove box door, you might want to contact Carrols' lawyer first though!

Yep Carroll's signature or a tiny wooden steering wheel with an AC horn button on it, which ever comes first. Ooops, I guess this answers that....LOL

    Randall,

You're gonna machine some slots in the spokes of that steering wheel so that it looks like the genuine article, right?:)

If you are worried about the strength of the wheel you could drill some holes instead. That way you wouldn't take out as much material.

Are you going to repaint the mini cobra as many times as you did the full size one?

Don't take it to a car show. Somebody will think you put it there for their kids to ride, or worse yet, take home. Cuz everything at a public display is for them!

Probably correct...lol. However I did register the big Cobra for the Mid Way Drags in June.

And we did manage to get the little Cobra back together this afternoon.

I even moved the gas cap to the correct area...lmao! It has been fun.

You know Jackson, I was thinking, if the Starbird Show goes this year in Tulsa maybe we could make a pass with it in the Rockin Billy Bash down hill free-style cart races!

Pretty cool news on the horizon. I have been talking with a nearby airport about doing a photo shoot of the Cobra on the runway and I just found out this morning that they are on board. So we are looking forward a bit, trying to predict the weather and potentially pick a nice day and time to do the photo shoot and make a few test hits!

I really dig this thread!!! Well done sir!! On a side note, I scored a pair of vintage
photos off of eBay recently. One clearly shows a 427 Cobra coming hard off the line and on its flanks it has Kenz and Leslie decals!! The other was a nice Dragin' Snake small block car. Parked next to a 66 GT 350H and in the background is a Nomad.

    Very Cool. Thanks for sharing.

Now of course there was only one 427 Dragon Snake. It is CSX3198 and it showed up state side in grey primer in November 1965. It was slated to be a 427 Street Car until February 1966 when HAAR FORD MOTOR COMPANY from Massachusetts placed an order for a 427 Dragon Snake. $2,173.98 worth of drag race modification were made and it was shipped out. It was still in primer, Haar Ford Painted it. I do not think the 427 car in your photo is the HAAR unit. For one the hood scoops do not match and secondly the HAAR car is one of the most well documented Cobras in History. ....AND I have never seen it without its custom top from Berry Plastics.

The other semi famous 427 Drag Car is the Penn Brothers racer. As far as I can tell it never ran a hardtop. There is a really cool video of them on you tube from the guy from BEE on Video. I suppose it could be a photo of their car.

My guess however, is the one in your photo is simply another guy from back in the day that realized the Cobra made a pretty good drag car. LOL

As for the blue one, it is not one of the original 5 Dragonsnakes. Someone simply painted Dragonsnake on the side. I have quite a few photos of the car which reportedly ran in upstate New York. I read some where that it had a narrowed Olds Rear End in it but that is just hear say. While not a real Dragonsnake it is likely to be a real Cobra and super cool.

Thanks again for sharing the photos, they are awesome!

What is really cool about the 427 in Spooky's photo is the name. Hamadryad. That is simply another name for King Cobra (or a large Cobra of southeastern Asia and the East Indies. The largest venomous snake). Somebody did their homework back in the day! That is Killer!

Well after looking at the Kenz and Leslie name I have learned something else today. Many of you guys may know them. I hate to sound like a moron but until I started researching the name, I had no recollection of them. However they have been supplying racing parts and products for more than 80 years and are still in business. Their names are over race cars from Bonneville to Indy and everything in between including drag racing. Learn something new every day. Very cool. Thanks Spooky for generating a bit of education for me this afternoon.
