It is not all about the heater you know... insulation is the key my friend. Dad and I were in the shop last night cleaning up a bit and the heater nearly ran us out of there. Turned it off. Stepped in this morning to get a tape measure and the thermometer on the wall still read 59 degrees! We are "heat lamp" ready for the Snake! LOL

Watching your build on this very interesting. I was looking at the 1964 Dec. hot rod and saw this article on a Dragonsnake . I've tried to take some picture no scanner. Very small article. Please for give my picture taking. 100_6800.JPG 100_6799a.jpg 100_6803a.jpg

If you can't get 500 hp out of that 363, you aren't trying. I am working on that much out of my .040 over 289 but not on pump gas.

  11. Does the company that's laying up your Cobra have a website?

I got some pretty cool news today that I am really excited about. I sent an email to Holman Moody this week asking permission to use their name as I have shown on the drag snake car.

I promised to represent them with the utmost respect to their brand and history but pomised to honor their decision either way.

This evening I received an email from Lee Holman confirming they would be proud to be on the car. He even offered to send me the art files!

Yes there is an ongoing conversation at this point about a few parts that might make it even more "authentic"! Lol

There is some provenance here you know. Just before revolutionizing NASCAR with a new safer square tube chassis, Holman Moody took delivery of one of the first Cobras. CSX2009 was a leaf-spring, 260-powered car, but is noteworthy as one of the four 260 Factory Team cars. It was shipped to Holman-Moody for race prep in 1963. It was driven at Nassau by Augie Pabst, driven at Sebring by Peter Jopp and Jocko Maggiacomo, and later campaigned privately in SCCA races. It also had an interesting post-racing history: In 1971, at Watkins Glen, it was hit from behind and nearly folded in half. A subsequent rebuild included parts from another Cobra, CSX2440, but it wasn’t until later on in the 1970s that it was completely rebuilt as a 289 car.

Yep...I am pretty excited about it. The only stipulation they put on the deal was selling T-Shirts or something like that. I am not allowed to sell anything with their logo on it but that is completely understandable.

So I got all the info to my cam guy Roger Hurst today. Below is the AFR head we are using. It is a 195cc Competition head (58cc Chambers). We will be going with a solid roller cam and lifters. I am pretty impressed with the AFR products. We will be running Jesel Rockers and that got Roger all stirred up as he want to go with a 1.7 ratio versus the the standard 1.6. AFR says we will have to modify the head for clearance if we go that direction, Roger is checking with them for sure but I am betting push rod clearance, no big deal. But Roger is underway!

Well the Tremec Magnum 6 Speed is on the way. I think I mentioned earlier about dealing with the guys from Silver Sport Transmissions. At the time, just before Christmas they only had 3 left in stock with the .75 and .50 over drive gears. After they are gone they are GONE....as Tremec is not producing that gear range anymore. You can get as an upgrade but it will cost you $500. So I was pretty excited when I called today and they still had one last unit.
