...I plan on seein you guys at Cordova & Byron,...this is a great event and you guys put on a good show, can't wait.
Time to look at my car and see if it's ready....I'm worried about the blower again, it's been working ok since the midnight rebuild two years ago, but who knows.... And trying to get my "new" tow vehicle ready. It's my 59 chevy pickup I've had forever. I need to work on the fuel system, it seems to be having some starvation issues. Don't want that, towing up hills in New Mexico.
I plan on tagging along a couple days and sleeping in the back of my panel. Wishing everyone the best !
I think he's busy! http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads...han-1-month-from-dw-any-news.html#Post2359194
the clock is ticking louder and louder. I feel like we are ready this year. it would be cool to get a group pic after we all get teched.
for sure! what are your traveling plans, as far as other cars with you on DW? it would be fun to hang out if you're not already planning to go with others.
My only plans at this time are to have the car ready to make a p*** as soon as the drivers meeting is done then hit the road. The first two days are going to be the long drives. If you want to pair up i think it would be great. Im staying at steves for the night when we get to st.louis. if something should happen on the road i have shops at every stop along the way if we need it.
My brother was lucky enough to get in this year. This is his first one. Hope to see lots of pictures on here and wishing him the best of luck.
Been working on the tow vehicle...sold my Suburban recently, so I've been fixing up my old truck, that I've had since the 70s. It's just about ready. I took it on a test drive up to Tucson, in the 100+ degree heat...it didn't like it, but it survived. Only supposed to be around 90 on the first day of our drive, then it should cool off when we get north a ways. Leaving Thursday.
Jim,..nice set-up!...can't wait to see it.Good luck on your trip. weather here should be in 60's- 70's next week.
it will be nice to have a cool week. after a few days the heat can really wear on everyone. we completely reworked the trailer over the weekend. we did many improvements not only to the trailer itself but how everything is organized. I found some lights for the inside of the tool box just in case we need something in the dark. we also put a dome light inside the car to follow the route instructions. that should be easier than using the cell phone. the latest oil pump is in place and tested out much better than the last one. the oil cooler was installed sunday. im hoping it removes some engine heat. its crazy how much difference a year makes. im ready and the car is ready. I might even get some sleep before I leave Saturday. good luck to everyone.
its funny you should say that. we are going to partner up for the event. its good to travel with another racer in case someone needs a hand. its not really a case of if something happens its more when its going to happen. something always goes wrong. it wouldn't be any fun if you didn't come back with some stories.
squirrel + racer-x + drag week = AWESOME! I'll be waiting by my mailbox for the coverage to start rolling in. Good luck guys!
you don't have to wait at the mailbox. bang shift provides a free live feed. I think the oil cooler is ugly but if it helps the car make it through the week i can live with it.
Thats right Brain, she is going to be put to the harsh unforgiving test of DW. Any thing that helps is a good thing. I do not think it looks that bad.
Squirrel you surely are hauling with style there, and Brian it is just function over form when necessary. Tough to type since my thumbs are up already!
I'm still working on the coupe. It is way behind schedule. I have not fired it up yet. almost everything is done, except I need to finish the wiring and a few miscellaneous things. This late in the game, if anything major goes wrong, I will have to switch to my plan B car. But hopefully any and all issues that arise will be fixable, and I can get some test and tune done on Saturday and then get into the drag week tech line on Sunday. Drag week 2017, if I make it with this car, will be more of a test and tune than a race for me.
