Well, that's good. A reward for being the best, I can't argue with that. Would be nice if it went a little farther down the list, but I guess they are trying to introduce new blood by making the rest compete for a spot. Didn't they do part of it by invitation at one time? The editors picked a number of entrants and guaranteed them entry? Or am I thinking about something else?
I did not make it, and the site is down for the wait list, I guess I will just go watch and the go to a wedding. Tony
If memory serves me correctly (which it doesn't as often as it used to!), they did not have 400 entries at the start of last years Drag Week.
You're thinking of the Pump Gas Drags, which was the predecessor to Drag Week. They've never had 400 cars show up. Even though for several years now, 400 cars have been registered, and many hundred more have been on the wait list.
The thing to remember here is just because your on the wait list doesn't mean you wont race. Keep your hotel rooms and vacation plans intact. So many drop out between now and September that they have never turned anyone away that showed up. I want to see all of my hamb/dw friends there.
I got in! My wife and I were on vacation in FLorida, (flew home last night) and we had an activity planned around lunch time. I set my alarm clock to ring at 11:50, dropped everything when it went off, went out to the rental car and fired up the laptop, hooked it up to the mobile hot-spot on my phone, and jumped onto the registration site just in time. Last year I got waitlisted because I missed a field and had to go back. So this year I was a little more deliberate in making sure everything was complete before I hit the GO ****on. It worked, my clock said 12:04:26 when I got the confirmation back, so I s****ed in just under the wire! DRAG WEEK OR BUST!
