great pix, we had a good time. when we first got there the main parking lot was preety empty. (about 11:30) as the day went on more people showed up, good turn out. we walked around and thought it was pretty nice to have some movin' around room. didn't have to worry about getting run over buy any golf carts and such. racing was great. vendors were good. we stayed till about 9 or so. watched some of the first movie they played and listened to the band. i got some pix also will post later as i just squirted some paint on the custom.
In the first Winged Express video the announcer starts saying something about "the front end of the Winged Express". The front wheels lifted a bit near the end of the quarter!
How often can you see Winged Express and Nanook run full out? And to see Winged Express pull the wheels at the 1000 ft mark? That was pretty much worth the "price of admission" right there. And that's including airfare for 2 from Austin, hotel, food, etc. etc. ! I'm sitting here at LAX, waiting for my flight. I'm really glad that we came out for the show.
Like everybody has been saying, Dragfest was a bitchen show. Good friends, plenty of bench racin, swap scroungin, ALL sorts of cool cars racing, cold beer, hot pin up chicks, and lots of good ole NITRO altered and digger passes. WOW!!! Hats off to Zombie and crew for puttin together a great event. Lets hope that it can go down next year and continue to grow. Take it from me, don't miss this baby next time it goes down. Thanks again Zombie!! D.
The only thing bad about Dragfest is the sunburn across my forhead. LOL One of the best shows I've been to and it was totally layed back with the bonus of running my car 5 times down the track.
On one of Winged Express's last passes, I gotta watch the pass from directlly behind the car, that was the icing on the cake for a great weekend!!!
Hats off to Zombie and crew!! I hope it happens next year!! Glad I put on plenty of sunscreen!! Jimmy White P.s. It reminded me of Bakersfield along time ago.
Who's your favorite race car drive? A J Foyt? Dale Earnheart? John Force?.....Hell no! Mike Boyd is the man!!!
"P.s. It reminded me of Bakersfield along time ago." Yep. Oh yeah, did anybody notice how narrow Rat Trap was compared to the rest of the old altereds? Shit, we know they are short, but the rear on that car is NARROW. Just too cool (and scary). D.
No shit man, Mike Boyd is my hero!! His dad Jimmy Boyd is pretty cool to. Kev where you there when the Red Turkey crashed on the big end? Skinny Jeff and I were ducking for cover man!! Jimmy White
I didn't see the crash but I heard about it. I rode up with Ratbone in his Chopped, fenderless, 427/5 spd A coupe and also Hot Rod Willie with his 37 coupe. Good trip. Did anyone else notice the one handed burnout by Nanook? One hand was poking out giving the Victory sign while he was performing a huge burnout. That was some damn cool shit! That was right before he bounced of the wall on his run!
