Sam you were kicking *** out there....Awesome!!

  2. Thanks guys... it was cool chatting with you, Royalshifter!

I know it just sounds like excuses, but I just screwed up that last run and lost! I didn't push the clutch in far enough, in my head I was going to cut a better light... but in reality, when I revved the thing to 7200 it rolled forward and out of the beams... DAMN! INSTANT RED LIGHT! ****!

That and you may have noticed my last two runs I was missing second gear and then on the third to last I missed 3rd! I think the ****** is going away, as it is getting REALLY hard to shift! I don't know enough about them to know the exact problem, but I think it's probably the syncros...

Bottom line... the event kicked ***, and I had a great time running the car... people were great, cars awesome... and the event was just plain old LAID BACK!

Props to ZOMBIE and crew... you guys rock.

    Sam.

ps ... I even got to drag the Triumph out... not running, but it was there!

I didn't get to make it to any event this weekend, but Ill have to make it out next year. By then I'll either bring the 54 or the BSA, and I'll have dad bring the 33 roadster. All those should be done by then.

Thanks BJ, Ron, Sam, Ricky and everybody.

Man, what a *****in' event! My thanks to Zombie, Randy and everyone involved, Dragfest just plain kicked ***!

I had such a blast. Watched American Graffitti at the "drive in" on Friday night. Met up and hung out with friends like Ricky, Ojai Rick, Jill & Johnny, Brandon, Sam and crew (I hadn't seen Justin and Greg in about 5 years) and more. Met a bunch new freinds, the folks with the black Henry J (super bad*** car, super nice people), the guys with the "Yesterday's Child" '56 Chevy (the history and continuing story on that car are amazing), all the axle car guys from the "El Monte Air Force" (killer cars and again, great people), the Famoso Speed Shop guys and more. Everywhere I looked I saw killer old machines that just looked right. I got to run my car down the strip at Famoso. Everyone I talked to was having a great time, no bad at***udes here.

On Sunday about noon time, I was sitting in the pits eating lunch with my girlfriend Mary, thinking how truly *****in' this deal was and thinking how things just don't get better than this and wham!, it got even better. Brandon came up to my pit, we talked about my car a bit and tells me he'd like to shoot pictures of it for a feature in Traditional Rod & Culture. Brandon scoped out a suitable spot I drove the car out there and he shot some pics. Man, I was totally stoked! Then I somehow managed to run consistantly enough to win the Nostalgia Straight Axle cl***. Man, that was totally un-expected and over the top! I was floating all the way home, and it wasn't just the blow by fumes!

Zombie, Randy and crew, man, you guys got it right. Next year is gonna kick *** again for sure. Anyone who misses Dragfest 2009 is a complete chump!

  17. My buddy Larry, in the yellow 46 Chevy Sedan Delivery went 12 O's with 1/8 mile rear gears. So, he'd let off at about 1000 foot. That's the only one i really remember

  21. Mike,
Congrats on the trophy and all. It was great to meet you and your wife. The only thing that ****ed at this event was Not having our car ready to race. That won't happen again. With any luck we'll have a new "409" small block and clutchless 5 speed ready for Hot Rod Reunion in Oct. and certainly the next Dragfest. Everyone was really cool, and welcoming just as we had hoped.
    See ya soon. "Yesterday's Child

Thanks, it was great to meet you guys and hang out in the pits. I enjoyed talking with your dad, great stories and a great guy. I also really dug seeing your car in person, what a *****in' machine and cool history. I'm glad you got it back in the family.

I look forward to seeing you again at CHRR. I plan on driving my "super stock" style '64 Dodge with a 413 and a Torqueflight. I'll be in the car show area at the fast end of the track with all the other no-account goons.

  24. Dodge ey, my brother and I are also building a 1962 Dart 440, a legal
NHRA Super Stocker w/330hp two four barrel 383 and a Jerico 3speed manual. Will be going to the dyno with the engine soon. This car was raced as a Super Stocker in the 60's and 70's by Pat Melendy, Pat Foley, and Marlin Goerske as with 383 and 413 power.
We'll definetly see you at CHRR, hopefully with 409 SB and 5 speed in the '56. Ric.
