DRAGFEST MAY 1st - 3rd 2009 Famoso CA

Just got my Fall 2008 Rod & Kulture Magazine and found out it's official.......Mark your calenders now for Rod & Kulture's DragFest May 1st thru 3rd 2009 at Auto Club Famoso Raceway, Bakersfield CA! This event was awesome this year and should only get better, anyone who attended will tell you that the gang @ Rod & Kulture and Famoso Speed Shop pulled all the stops to offer entertainment for everyone. As I posted on the HA/GR board I'm sure they will accommodate us with a HA/GR class if there are enough of us, maybe we can help an Eastern Racer make the trip

Super awesome time, lets see?, it was boss, radical, tubular and it was especially TIT!, tight. I sold the 18.891 super lightning fast plymouth, so hopefully the new project will be done by then.

 

im looking forward to #2. i have spoke to greg lazzrini, and bruce cox, and they are coming back with the gu hun coupe and the rainbow warrior. i love seeing the history stuff make passes. im hoping to see more hamb rails too. randy said he was gonna build one, so the famoso speed shop should have something put together for that class. im busting ass on the 'ol dodge gasser, but im still not sure i'll have it done in time. i just got a 1948 16mm camera for my birthday, so i plan on taking some "moving pictures" at the next one.

i was talking with Butch from ANRA and the Magic Man in the tower at famoso this weekend and we're all looking forward to it.

 

I'll be there!

Am in San Diego on business the following week, so will fly out a little early IOT attend.

 

I was at Lazzerini's this weekend and he's already talking about going to the Dragfest... He's working on something else to take along with the gu hun coupe... Last year we had a great time, I can't wait...

My Willys won't be running but I plan on taking it anyway.

 

Last years was bitchin, it's a must if you're in to true vintage drag racing. Past up other shows or races for this one!!!!!

 

we have all sorts of cool things in the works for this year. including an extra day. it will be 3 days this year. car show entry is free with weekend pass. i would love to see jungle pam there, as well as linda vaughn.

Won't be able to make the trip out this year, but we had a blast last year. If you are anywhere at all close to Bakersfield, you should to check it out!

we just had a meeting regarding top fuel. they want to come, and are offering to help with the purse, but i am opposing a top fuel class. the cars are too new. there is nothing nostalgia about them except the motor is out front. though we do have other classes that feature newer cars, i am trying to fight off as much of that as possible. we will have the alterdes again, and it looks like we will have some funnys showing up. the bigger the real nostalgia classes get, the more i can trim off the newer stuff. we will also be talking to some of the drivers this year about a heads up class next year for the hamb rails, and the nostalgia gasser class (not a,b,c,d gas). for this year i think we will be using the old tree for the real nostalgia classes.

spike, how about you and some of your east coast homies showing up with something to run? show the west coasters whatcha got?

I was in the TRK booth all weekend at the GNRS- the interest and excitement for the upcoming Dragfest is great! Should be an excellent crowd of excited drag fans. See you all there! Jim

 

Talking to Weasel and Linda this weekend leads me to believe they could be inclined to attend. That would be GREAT!!!
