Rocky... Me thinks that the new set of bars has to be set back farther(more space between them.) I just hope you haven't welded them in yet. 1" helmet bars also.. Looking good Buddy.... Dick
No I haven't welded them yet I just thought it didn't look as 'contemporary'. I checked the rule book and didn't see any guidelines on the spacing but I'll take your advise and add more Thanks guys, Rocky Tom, Don't be suprised if a BIG package arrives at your door step I'd love to make the trip but this year is out Maybe next year we could get a stacker trailer and all go
Hey Rocky, Looking at your extra loop it occurs to me that you could move the bottom of it (where it sits on the upper rail) forward close to the front loop junction, then lean it back far enough to look good, do they have to be parallel? That'd give you a "fan" look to it all and be more old style looking while getting you to a five point. Just a thought ........... I'll take a look at the rule book to see if that'd be acceptable (with an eye toward another possible design to consider for ours as well ). "I'd love to make the trip but this year is out Maybe next year we could get a stacker trailer and all go." Four HAMBster trailer train.
With the way fuel prices are escalating, You will be able to buy those pretty darn cheap..BUT..Who will pay for the fuel to pull it back there??? BTW> Butch welcomes any of the HA/GR guys to run the ANRA events.. Maybe we could set up a Calif.National...
I'm supporting Butch 100% and after we get the west coast cars performing like our brothers back east an EAST/WEST gathering would be great!
Sounds good to me, we could do an EAST/WEST Match Race Tour like the AF/X cars did, everyone runs all rounds and the winners get free hot dogs!
MMMMMMMM.........Hot Dogs! I dunno 'bout out here but I'll bet the fans would love to watch the locals beat up on 'the Californians' back east Probably even roll the carpet out for us like we did for Garlits way back when
Hey at the 59 Smokers March meet when Garlits first raced on the west coast the announcer kept calling him Don Garbage. Bad taste! I think we can have a get together in about a year. I am looking for a 4 cyl. S-10 with a 5 speed to pull my Hamber around with. I know it isn't big enough but it will get a lot better mileage. Once you are up to speed on the freeway it doesn't take much HP to keep it going. I will probably need to put brakes on the trailer because I might need to stop.Roy
Roy.. I pulled a roadster up to Bakersfield (once) with an 87 Nissan P/U 5 speed.. Pulled fine. But man what a bitch to stop..Trailer brakes are a MUST...I know a guy that pulls his Fiat around all the time with a V6 Toyota..I'm sticking with my old Dodge diesel..19mpg. empty.. 15 pulling...
No I'm working on it but I had to order a new cam. Three lobes were gone on the cam when I took the old engine apart. I have cleaned out all passages and got the full flow oil filter set up worked out. I am taking the block down to a machine shop that has a long tool to put the cam bearings in. I was going to make one but I figured what the hey this guy will do it for $20 and I can concentrate on other things. I'm going to try to have it running in about 2 weeks. Roy
Well I got thru the car show today and it was awesome! Lot of interest in the HA/GR, people loved the simplicity, I did answer the HA/GR questions but my main goal was to promote those who have helped me out here locally. I know I'm a sellout with 'corporate ' support but I don't have enough energy to work on the Cerutti and Sons Transportation Hot Rod using my CR Industrial Supplies tools until I get a great Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant meal I couldn't resist. Anyway here's the latest photos of our car with the HAND lettering done by a great friend and team member (Bud)........Rocky
Looking good Rocky, You know, we have sponsors too (they're just embarrassed to be identified with our workmanship). It's going to look like Christmas when we line up.
Do you think it would be alright if I poke around in you guy's supersecrethotrodgasrail(tm) society's broom closet...? Wouldn't you know it, I just spilled my Rice Krispies... Great job on that rail, man. JOE
I fitted the remaining bars to complete the rollcage tonight. My son will weld them all up tomorrow and then it's off to B'field. I hope it satisfies the powers of tech, I'm tired of pipe fitting, I want to work on the go fast part
Tom we had a great TIME at the 110 degree ROAST. Dick ran a...........O I'll let him tell his progress, I will say we got some catch'n up to doLee ran a 15.20 something and went a couple rounds in open wheel and I'll let him tell that story I will say he got interviewed on the car by a guy who posts videos on YouTube! I was busy with my E Gas car while they were running Open wheel, so busy I WON the thing I want to thank Dick and Russ for staying and cheering me on and Alteredpilot (Mitch who announces) for the kind words and his efforts promoting the HA/GR class. Got a couple of things to do to the car but pretty much sailed thru TECH, now maybe we can find some time to get'r in the 14's.
i got a chance to get up close to this thing right after you guys put it up on the trailer and let me tell you what... WHAT A NICE CAR! everything painted and pretty and it just got quicker and quicker as the heat got hotter and hotter (BTW..it was 115 thank you very much) car picked up almost 3 TENTHS!!! NICE JOB LEE!! way to go and CONGRATS on the E/GAS WIN!
Heres a shot from the March Meet, I know it's O/T non traditional but I'm pretty proud of what the old girl can do! She's ran 11:40s and is a low buck, iron headed (pinned studs, roller tipped rockers), stock rods, unbalanced 302 Super T-10 4 speed car that deserves paint Thanks Mitch, sorry we missed ya, must of been when we went over for the FREE BBQ. I'll give ya a call .
