Man have I been slackin' or what! Time to get after the HA/GR, the 15's arn't cuttin' it and Old6' has been busy sorting his out. I've been collecting parts and it's time to put them to use, my first task is the 'Top Loader' 3 speed install then the 2 Stombergs gotta get on top. My goal is to have it ready for the CHRR if for nothing else Show & Tell! And if we get to run I don't want to be embarrassed.................More Red Bull Please
Considering the speed of your initial build, I think you will be ready. Maybe we should all buy stock in Red Bull, I hear their sales are going up. I'm building as quick as I can manage, but we aren't going to make the CHRR this year, the events since January put this year pretty much on hold. We're with you in spirit Rocky, keep Old6 honest.
Thanks Tom! Maybe you and the Mrs. could sneak up to the CHRR for a day, Your always welcome @ the Team TWIRL"N RV.
Thanks for the invite Rocky. We'd love to come up for a day, but if I was only doing one day it would be Saturday for the Cacklefest and it would definitely be a day too long. Maybe we can make one of the later ANRA meets. We'll keep you posted.
The Cacklefest is GREAT, anybody who has stood along the fence and got MULTIPLE SHOTS of NITRO has to agree I took my Ford 3 speed Top Loader apart today for some massaging and I'm looking for a T-15 Top Shift assembly if anyone out there might have one. Been looking at Clutch Choices, gonna need to be creative to get a 9" Ceramic Disc. Trying for the 13's with the 3 spd, Strombergs, raised compression, and Camshaft change. I don't want to have the Dick's outrunning us too bad By the way you out there Thingy'? I gotta give you a call!
AAAH!! More horsepower coming....... Now, as long you have the car apart....... It's time to drill that axle.
I sent in my entry for the CHRR this week and been working on the car. Found Centerforce offers my 9" ceramic clutch, Carbs are rebuilt and tranny is assembled. Hopefully they will let us run in the Exibition Class, if not I'm just going to relax and enjoy the weekend!
Sure hope they run you. Their loss if they don't, this thing's growing in spite of their attempts to ignore it.
I believe your right Old6', I'll bet we get alot of interest. I'm gonna make up some bus. size cards to hand out that will have the HAGR site, ANRA site, and our contact info along with a picture of the car. I also found that there is a difference in a T-15 and T-150 trans, luckily the person I won the T-15 top from on ebay had a T-150 top and will be shipping it to me this week, GEAR Bang'n Time
Well I got to figure'n that I have 23 days until I leave for the CHRR. So thats 2 RedBull a day @ $2.50 a can x.........
It's gonna be a challenge I know but actually the shifter looks easy, the clutch pedal and linkage are gonna make me
WOO-HOO recieved my CHRR Credentials 2day! Clutch & Tranny's assembled and I'll stuff it all in the car 2nite.
Man this manual tranny changeover is a bunch of work. I have the scatter shield laid out and ready for Lee to weld up, clutch linkage is done and my T-150 tranny top shift should be here I hope this week. Can't wait to see how the car responds to the tranny change in 10 DAYS, should be FUN!
With the California Hot Rod Reunion less than a week away I decided to make up some "Hand Outs" the size of "Trading Cards". The cards will have a photo of our car on one side and some brief info on the other which I listed below. Let me know what you think and O'YA looks like I might be behind the wheel Rocky Team TWIRL”N HAMB Dragster GO Dragracing with a Dragster you can build YOURSELF! The card thing sounds good Rocky. Your gearbox's coming along nice too, I'm looking forward to seeing that top shifter. Tom's looks great and shifts smooth as butter. He has around 2 1/2 feet of lever on it, with a blue glass mushroom knob. Really wish we could make the CHRR but I absolutely have to get the float crew some saddle time this weekend. Our mechanical inspection and first road test are on the 11th. "and O'YA looks like I might be behind the wheel Rocky" I truly want to see THAT sqeeze-in.
If you call Russ, don't forget the rear view mirror for staging. Like the card idea Rocky, and major cool if you can squeeze in there and make it happen, go for it!!
The clutch pedal, scattershield, and floor tunnel is complete and I have pictures to prove it The scattershield is 1/4" x 4" Flat Bar, once I put it in I didn't like the rear portion of the bellhousing uncovered. With room an issue I enclosed the back of the scattershield and then extended it to the tranny with 10 gauge which my floor board also covers. Only 3 days before we head to Bakersfield and we'll be ready less the Strombergs, I want to see what the tranny change alone will do for E.T. (my excuse and I'm stick'n too it!) IF my tranny top arrives
Have a great weekend Rocky, we're there with you in spirit. Looking forward to your pictures and results of your new driveline changes. This will be the first year we have missed since our first trip to the CHRR in '02. Guess it's appropriate that we made "six in a row".
