What do you use as dragg blocks? I want something that will give off a lot of sparks, but won't catch fire. Steel? Magnesium?
Anyone have any pics of them mounted? I would need longer blocks for my truck I don't think those ones would reach the ground. Might have to build my own. Thanks.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm, neat movie effect but I think you stand a chance of burning down the western United States if you*****ed around with them on the open road! BTW, The BLM and Forest Service WILL charge you for the cost of the grassfire you start. Not to mention the old lady that has a heart attack and kills a family of 6 in that Minivan coming at you.
My buddies dad works for an aircraft company & gave us a big bar of****anium he 'liberated'. We used to drive around in his Chevette, me hanging out the passenger door dragging that bar of****anium on the ground throwing huge rooster tails. This was in 1990 or so, oh the good old days. Get a Mini Truckin mag, you are looking for****anium drag blocks. Lots of companies sell them. Devious customs, etc.

titanium will give you lots of bright white sparks. on my riviera a few years back, i made blocks form some alloy steel, just 4140, made plenty of sparks! steel will make more yellow sparks. for best effect, you can put the blocks as far back as you can, so the sparks will kind of roostertail up, if you put them further forward, the sparks just bounce under the car. also with them further back is safer, less chance of setting your car on fire, think about the gas tank vent, etc. i got nailed by a small town cop in MN back in the mid 90's, juiced rides were few and far between, anyway, one evening i was at a convienence store, the guy working wanted to see what the hydraulics could do, so as i pulled onto the main drag, i dumped the**** and threw some killer sparks, cop hidin in the ally spied me, chased me down to make sure everything was ok! "hey, you know you were draggin something back there!" uh, heay officer, see i got hydraulics, and i was adjusting it, and kinda bumped the wrong switch...he was amazed at hydraulics, he stepped out into the middle of the road so he could get a good look and made me go through all the moves! i never seen a cop with such a big grin! it never occured to the rookie that it might be just a tad bid dangerous, off i went with the cop smiling.

Any****anium is what give the bright white sparks. Doesn't matter what alloy of Ti it is, look at aerospace scrap places for Ti. A iron based block will give yellow sparks, the more alloy the better the sparks. Cast iron will give a great spark show because of the high carbon content.
Another reason Hot Rodders and Kustomizers will never understand each other. 4th of July is comming up. You'll be able to get all kinds of pretty, sparkly things. No car needed.
Hey DrJ I saw that post the other day. I took off my flamethrowers a while back. Like everyone said I think if you put the blocks far back enough you don't have the chance of burning your car down. Plus I think that guy with the Olds sad propane injection if I remember right. I might have to hit up some old aircraft scrap yards.
