Nice find of an old drag racing film. Some of the So Cal top racers were in this film clip. (Including a Messerschmidt, multi engine/tire race car. Hello, It is painted yellow like the later version of Lion's Dragstrip that went from orange to yellow, but the snack bar is gone, the tower side is too wide to the return road and no farmer's field to the east side of the photos. The western views always show the nearby Wilmington Oil Refineries, but alas, nothing shows. So, it is not Lion’s Dragstrip. Roger Brinkley photo Jnaki Even on the best weather days and the worse overcast, foggy weather, the close steel structures were evident and even the refineries were also present. Tommy Ivo 1960 SOUND So, with my funky 16mm color point and shoot, film camera and fixed lens, the area was a good place to take movies from almost everywhere at the dragstrip.
While it's only an educated guess, since I wasn't there, I'd say maybe it's San Fernando? In the film there appears to be mountains in the distance. And from the time I've spent there I seem to remember fog that settles in the valley.
