That's great video. What's amazing to me is that some of these local tracks have hardly changed in all the years that have gone by. I live about 10 mins from Island Dragway in Northwest NJ, and if you filmed it today with the same equipment it would look much the same. The track is accessed off what is a glorified driveway, and ultimately situated in the middle of a farm. There is a shitty strip club near the main road that was clearly once a residential premise. With the close of E-town and Atco, it's one of the last places around here to race. Same could be said for Cecil County Dragway in northern MD near the PA and DE border. It was about 15 minutes away from the University of Delaware where I attended my undergrad, and me and my boys spent an inordinate amount of time there for street and grudge nights. That track is situated basically in a corn field, but has a long shut down area so they can host cars that go well into the 6s. I can recall one evening when I was allowed to race my 57 Ford with no side glass, a bullshit lap belt, and no battery hold down. The tech inspector saying, "well... you made it here..." before I ripped off a 15 sec pass with skirts, whitewalls and a continental kit hanging off of the back. It was hardly the least track-worthy. Souped up ATVs, Go-karts, rice rockets, diesel trucks.... nothing was off limits there.
