Thanks Dave, that was damn cool. I love the part where they had to leave the track to have the tires inflated. And the attendents comment on the tires being wore out!! Neat stuff.!

My folks had a Dragmaster dart that was raced from 1966-1968.
They originally bought it from Earl Poage, and they took the AA/D and made it into a AA/C roadster with a '23 T body.

The car was (I think) a 1962 Dragmaster Dart, 112" WB with a blown Dodge Wedge engine. The car won the NHRA World Finals in Tulsa in 1966. On the way back to Washington, they stopped at Dragmaster and had the car lengthened from 112" to (I think) 138". The car never ran the same and after 2 more seasons, was sold to a group of guys in British Columbia.

I have some photos around, so I will see if I can scan them and get them on here.

I drove that car a couple times in the 80's. In it's heyday it was a Hot Rod Magazine Top Ten car. Owned by the late Gus Leighton and Dennis Garrett. It's still in my town.

And who's that in the backround? Mr. Bill Jenks. A real gentleman and the Moon cam grinder and Tank builder for many years. Always there to answer any questions you may have about Hotrodding. He's a legend. :) B

  28. I got a call last night from a fella in Arizona who has acquired a unique Dragmaster cacklefest car. It has the Dragmaster rear section (modified) and a Woody Gilmore front. Damn fine job by whoever did this conversion IMO.

Cool! Wayne brought the car down from Payson AZ last Saturday and the crew of The Old Timer, Lee Leadbetters old FED ran thru everything with Wayne even pulled the motor. Fired it off and tuned it up. Later Saturday we had the two FED's at the Pavilion in Scottsdale and fired both a couple of times. I'll have pic's on my site later today.
