Projects Dragster Club..........picture thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Royalshifter, Oct 23, 2008.

  1. Here's an add, probably from Drag News. The chassis shown is pretty close to yours, but if you know anything about Scotty Fenn, you know that he mad numerous changes on his basic designs.

There should be a ton of photos of that car on the web. Do you have the original body? If not, or if it's in tough shape, I can help with a new Rod 'n Race Fiberglass piece.

What's everybodies favorite dragster parts vendor? Stuff like steering, etc...

  10. That's pretty "unique" front axle setup Guffey. Can't ever remember seeing that style of engineering.

  11. Conder, I live in Ventura, left NZ about 28 years ago. I'm only working on my Willys right now, oh and a little on my rpu so I can sell it. The dragster frame just sits.....for now.

Guffey, where did you find that thing. Whats the story on this slingshot.
Did someone actually try to take this thing down the dragstrip? Or was this something one saw parading around the car show circuit. Yeah, that is the rail that got away. I didn't know you you owned the Superstang.

That is one of the MPC model company Zingers the Super Drag to be exact I always called it the Zinger dragster. I looked for it for quite some time and it found Mark Moriarity and I talked him out of it. The Super Mustang streamliner was in Hemmings probably 15 years ago unrestored and pretty ruff and that is how I ended up with it. I sold it to collector in Michigan.

  14. My friend Bernie used to own this one and I found myself in the pits helping out where needed local and down in Indy GG numerous times. He still has a couple cars just waiting for when ever.

That Willys is gonna KILL. I guess sometimes you have to be from "out of town" to love this !@#$ as much as we do! New Zealand. Kentucky...

  16. I just met a fellow at a local show today who is looking for a FED roller. Nothing fancy, but not a piece of junk either. He's in Georgia and is willing to go 300-500 miles to bring one home. PM me if you have something.

thanks for the post Jim.this was the 1st time down the track, likes to get the wheels in the air. its a 134'' car, 302 chevy with hilborn, Was to SGMP this past w/e and went a wheel toting 101/7.01. I have to put some wt on the ft end. ton of fun.would like to make the HAMB drags in '09.

  23. I went down Sunday....how did I miss you? Actually folks said there were a lot of cars on Saturday that didn't come back for Sunday. I do not think there were 100 spectators on Sunday. Kinda long ride for a small turnout.

This is not my dragster. It was at the nostalgic drags at Lebanon Valley Dragway. I didn't get the owners name but he told me the car was a real handful off the line. He was right because it did a wheelstand coming out of the burnout box. Short and fun.

The Dixie Flyer circa 2001. A '68 Buttera car we found in a dirt floor barn in SC around in '96. Ran it with a carburated small block and a blown big block. Ran a best of 7.60 @180. It's been restored as the BancAmericar. I believe Nite Flyer here on the hamb took the picture.

Here's mine...one of the last cars built by Pat Bilbow of Lyndwood Welding. This is confirmed by Bob Bilbow that it is a small tube car, which was a prototype, since most of his cars were of large-tube construction. It's a 168-inch wheelbase, and it's supposed to be the only small tube (four-bar) that's actually in running order. That's my dad behind the wheel...we went in halves on the car about 6 months ago. Photos!
