what do they do to keep a dragster motor from overheating since there is no radiator is there coolant in the heads?
No the top fuel and top alky cars run for such short periods that they don't use and coolant at all. In fact not even any water jackets in the engine blocks or heads
I heard ,I dont know anything about top fuel cars, that alky burns alot cooler and you dont need a radiator. I am sure someone will post who knows more
I saw an example of how much fuel goes through a top fuel engine at full power. Looked like a high pressure hose. It helps to keep it cool.
a lot of the alcohol engines have their water p***ages filled with hardblock--I remember in the old days watching crew chiefs spray WD40 at the injector ****erflies as the cars pulled to the line to keep them from freezing shut or open
The fact that they only run for minutes at a time is the reason they don't need a cooling system. Warm it up, run 1/4 mile, back to the pits, and shut it down. You don't run it long enough to overheat. Try to drive a dragster to the liquer store and you will overheat.
